Plus over paying now may come with greater reward later on.

We’ve built a reputation as a team easy to deal with over the last few years, there’s a long game in play there.

We’re going to want something big at some stage.
But but but Blair is a moron,
We need Bowes RCD & o’Halloran to take us to the promised land.

Also we need to stockpile picks for daicos

So in essence picks 12 and 19 (CCJ) for Taranto and picks 18 (future first) 🏆, 31 and rookie draft pick No 68 (Soldo) for Hopper, that's not a bad deal, no top 10 picks required for either. We ain't getting players like Zac Willaims, Dylan Shiel, Devon Smith etc, we are getting two top-notch mids who will help our fortunes in 2023 and beyond as the Cats paid for Jeremy Cameron (3 first-rounders).

As much as I would like to hold onto pick 31, (hopefully, we get a pick back in the 40's (3rd rounder), would anyone in their right mind trade pick 7 (Hopper) for 18 and 31 and pick 2 (Taranto) for picks 12 and 19. Top 10 picks are like gold.

I know some are saying we are paying too much, but if Shai Bolton was wanting to leave no doubt most would be saying we GOT shafted if we accepted picks 12 and 19

Get a third round back I’m ok with the deal. I don’t want to loose Soldo but we must have a contingency in place to deal with that if he goes. And I mean bringing in a player that can cover if Nank and Samson go down.

I wonder if we're haggling over what the pick will be, or if it's a pick they're getting from one of their other trades (Bruhn) they plan to pass on so we need to wait for that to happen first?
I wish but extremely unlikely.

GWS aren't going to accept our future first and give us what would likely be an equivalent (or close to it) back.

I can only see it being one of these 3 back:

  • Pick 44
  • Future 2nd (maybe tied to another club like Collingwoods which they have)
  • Future 3rd (GWS)

Personally I would take Collingwoods future 2nd as they have a tougher fixture next year.

Yeah getting Hopper and Taranto is chips all in next year
So it’s a bit like that

Feel like it’ll be Cotch/Jacks last hoorah together

Selwood retired at 34 this year
Hawkins will play next year at 35

Jack will be 34 next year and Cotch will be 33. They’re our versions so will be interesting if they can keep performing like this year cause if they do they might even get another year in 2024

JR and Cotch are better players than Hawkins and Selwood though

Yeah I agree, I just figured that Geelongs first might not be enough in the Bruhn trade and they may throw a third rounder to GWS too, which might come to us. Otherwise 44 seems about right.

Also keep in mind that Brisbane have 2 father son players which will be accumulated by points. Hopefully Brisbane has many of those picks under 44 which would mean 44 could become 35ish.

Chill, hasn't happened with Hopper yet - it's called the art of negotiation. Not the art of alarm and disfunction.......!
Fair chance Groupie_ 's had a lot of dysfunction during sex.

70% of Richmond supporters: Our midfield is junk; we need to do something about it otherwise our era is over.

30% of Richmond supporters: We can't be serious trading out all our picks for 2 players, our team if it doesn't win the next flag will fall off the cliff hard and we will remain at bottom for years.

Kind of see both sides of the drama on this thread.

Stoked we’re getting Taranto and hopper, immediately takes what was a massive problem for us into a huge strength.

But at the same time we are given up a hell of a lot.

Reckon the club would have a contingency plan if it all went **** up (as in we suck sheet next year).

Think this would maybe put players like graham, short and possibly vlas up as trade to get back into the draft.

For what it’s worth, I don’t see this happening, we are gonna have a stacked squad next year and already have a great bunch of youth pushing through.

We are a mother far ken powerhouse ppl

Need a Venn diagram because a lot of supporters fall into both categories.

On a side note, recruiting Taranto and Hopper probably keeps us relevant for the next 5 years at a minimum.

Hard to see us struggling but also would hope we don’t start selling off young players if we do. I reckon we drafted at least 4 long term best 22 players last year and add them to the existing group of young players + Taranto and Hopper and you’ve already got 15+ good players for the next 5 years.

Everyone loves us because we are a doormat :D
Thought it was because we go down easy and are also prepared to grab our ankles and not use lube

Since 2017 we have been drafting 'mids' to have backups/replacements for Cotch, Dusty, Prestia, Edwards. From the many picks Sonsie is a probable and Ross, RCD, Dow are possibles....just.
Now have a chance at 2 gun mids in their prime at an age bracket 25-26 where we have few players that could carry the team for the next 5 yrs ?
I would do this every 4 years, to keep us in the finals with a shot at another flag. Never bottom out again !! see Blues, Hawks, Bombers, Nth, Adelaide, Eagles now...
Picks a are dime a dozen and we have blown many but getting 2 players like Taranto and Hopper who are better than Prestia and Caddy when we got them.
In our system of defensive football they will be even better, we have struck GOLD we just don't know it yet !!!
In 4yrs time we'll have 5 picks in the top 30.
Rinse repeat
