North appointed Laura (a lawyer with no real football experience) as our Football manager just to tick the woke/equality box.
It's no coincidence that our football department from that point on made some terrible decisions leading to the current predicament.
Somehow she gets poached ( thank god) and appointed to the AFL.
While other clubs had real football managers like Neil Balme or Gubby Allen we appointed her.

She will f the AFL just like she did North.

So, our club deliberately ignored it and planned that it wouldn't happen?

I don't believe it.

The AFL made comments about it possibly changing after the draft concluded, not while we were in the process of planning.

i mean we did trade away heaps of picks to a coach who should have moved on ages ago for one more crack. THEN to have gale join a rival club and still be in the job ..... i think we are capable of being this dumb in the football department

He is probably the exact type of player we need. He is 1 year short of being a free agent, so you are paying up a huge amount for him. You are probably talking $1.25m x 7 years contract wise, and a huge price in picks. Our rd 1 pick or our future rd 1 pick would need to be involved. Or a player/players with some sort of real value, plus maybe some older lesser value players who have experienced success.

Let me take a stab at our future rd 1 pick + Graham + McIntosh + Prestia for the right to pay Uniacke $1.25m for 7 years.

Yep best way to give ourselves a chance at sustained success is to go down the Hawthorn path and hit the draft.

But I'm worried we're going to instead go the other way and try and top up Geelong-style.
