GOLD Coast ruckman Ned Moyle has turned his back on rival interest to sign a four-year contract extension with the Suns that ties him to the club until the end of 2028.

Touch and go I reckon.
we could trim a small forward or two for some more midfield depth.
Green is a midfielder being played as a small forward lol

“A tough inside midfielder who thrives at the contest, Steely Green has emerged as a bolter in this year’s draft crop having produced some excellent form for South Fremantle at senior level.”

Averaged 18d and 4 tackles playing Seniors and Captained U18 WA team in their only win of the National Carnival ... all as a midfielder

Probably get delisted for a small forward we think will make an excellent midfielder.

I mean that culture got you three flags you berk

Could understand the whinge if we were Adelaide supporters after the power stance human mind trash
Well you bigger Berk, why didn’t it get us 5 flags. Or even more? What was the excuse?
If it was so powerful a tool how did we lose any? Maybe it had to do with Richmond man Dusty being injured, or Astbury and a couple of others being struck down with illness. Or the weak bastards should have chanted “ we’re Richmond men” and off we go.

If you think it was so important and meaningful why is Baker maybe Bolton or anyone else looking for an out? Why did “Richmond man” Soldo leave? Or “Richmond man” Hardwick. Why is Richmond Man Gale leaving?

If you believe all the Richmond man juju, that’s good for you. Each to their own.

Better question would be if it didn’t have any impact why for the many seasons before 2017 when we had a very similar list were we not a true premiership threat?

Everyone at the club at the time has said it made a profound difference to the club

Yes. Top 10 picks. Not the #1 pick. That's what we're talking about.

I'd much rather win as much as possible, avoiding a loser culture for our young players, while still finishing 17th and getting pick 2 in a draft where you can throw a blanket over the top 2 or 3.
Mate, if you are finishing 17th, i hate to tell you, but you have had a shit year. How much better year is finishing 17th to 18th?

Ya jokin

Baker, Bolton & 20 for 11, 14, 15 & 25

We are getting absolutely reamed there

If Bolton wanted to leave, it won't be to North, any team he joins will likely be contending for finals this year and next. We would end up with a similar trade to the Ottens deal. So while the Ottens deal may seem terrible in hindsight, if we kept Ottens, we almost certainly would not have finished low enough to get Cotchin and Martin. So it still indirectly worked out. If we are doing a full rebuild and we lose Baker, Rioli and maybe Bolton, it will guarantee very high draft picks the next 2 years as well. But we will be very hard to watch trading out all our speed in a game that gets faster each year.

Purely hypothetical question
Freo as the ladder sits now
Have picks 11- 14---15--25
In this year's draft if they offered all4 for liam and shai..would you say yes or no

No way. We had 5 x top-30 picks a few years back ….. Gibcus injured. Brown looks good. Still hopeful, but question marks remain on the other three.

If Shai Bolton ever wanted out, I’d not even consider it if a top-5 pick wasn’t part of a package… a top-5 pick and another in the early teens would be my starting point to get me to the table. Baker’s out of contract so a bit different, but a pick around 10-12 is the mark for him.

So swap pick -15 for pick-4 and we’re getting close : 4, 11, 14 and 25. Baker and Bolton would make Freo my flag favourites in 2025.

Especially with our track r cord with picks in the teens ... Rance Reiwoldt and Rioli ... have been the only successful picks ever, right?

Edit: by teens I was including picks 11-20

Higgins, Brown, B Ellis not exactly abject failures.

Ponder Inspector Gadget GIF

Ellis ... one All Australian squad ... would say not a failure ... though when your list includes two players that left for better opportunities elsewhere and one that hasn't played 15 games yet ... you a probably proving my point, right?

Well Higgins and Brown stem from the same pick really, as we effectively got a mulligan on Higgins, and ultimately used it on Brown. But Higgins is going well and Brown is shaping as if he is going to be a staple best 22 player at the very least. So I am calling that a win.

Ellis a dual flag guy who was more than decent for a pick in the teens.

Plus the 3 R's you mentioned, Riewoldt, Rioli, Rance - there must be some play on the old 3 R's "readin writin rithmatic" in there but I digress.

Failures with teens picks?

19 Griffiths

That's it.

2006 onwards, our picks in the teens:

successes: Rance, Riewoldt, D Rioli, Higgins/Brown, B Ellis

v

failures: Griffiths(63 games)

Now Growp, you might have unwittingly unearthed something here. Our last 7 picks in the teens have unearthed, 2 all timers, the brilliant D Rioli, 2 most likely very good careers 200+ games Higgins and Ellis(dual flag) and an extremely promising young mid sized defender in Brown. And the only failure was 63 game injury riddled Griffiths, who we sold to the yanks.

We WANT picks in the teens Growp - we are guns at it.

Avoid like plague:

pick 12 - C Ellis, Benjamin Lennon

Pick 20 - especially DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES taken a hyphenated ****er at this pick - Coleman-Jones, Collier-Dawkins.

If someone offers us in a trade any pick either side of the teens, ie pick 12, or pick 20, tell them to FRO. :)

So you’re trying to tell me he’s a 30p midfielder being played in FP, who’s kidding who , the coaches are playing local footballers in the guts in front of him, what’s that tell ya

Sad case of too much depth in the middle, VFL & AFL levels and he hasn't been able to push past it.

WA clubs might rookie him.

Imagine having Caddy instead of Hopper. This is what trading out picks looks like for injury-prone players

Jayden Short has never been worth a first rounder except maybe 2020, early second round at best. Now? Probably late 2nd early 3rd.
