I think some people here are forgetting what pick 56 actually means to Freo, that is a 50+ round upgrade on their last pick effectively. That deal means a lot more to Freo than some people are giving them credit for. Pick 24 would have been a far worse deal for them. In fact, I would say they would have preferred pick 24 and 56 to pick 21 outright (as an example). I don't know if they would have preferred pick 19. They probably would have preferred pick 17 as this gets them in front of us. So the deal is much more in the ball park of his worth than the initial 24 or nothing.

common sense prevailed in the end, freo held out as a matter of principal and got a little more out of Carlton and the Blues still got a very good deal so their supporters should be pretty stoked with that!

Warnock has to still make it, but pick 40 wouldn't have been out of the question if we had Pagan at Carlton.

For all those posters that want to laugh at Freo - in reality what choice did they have.

No other club made a serious offer that was better and they risked losing him for nothing. At least now they have pick 24 which could net a reasonable player and some loose change at the end of the draft that they will use due to the number of retirements they had this year.

Not a great result for them but still better than losing a promising ruckman for nothing at all.

LOL at all the Carlton fans having a go at Freo... one of the biggest bluffs of talent was just carried out. Warnock is a chump and will do zip for Carlton other than suck the unwarranted salary from them... will go down in a couple of years as one of the best/worst trades, as Robbie gets eventually delisted for being exposed when he actually plays some game time and gets creamed by opposition rucks, and Carlton pick up some decent drafts now that there are new recruiters at the draft table.

Great grab by Carlton, Freo shafted but did as well as they could and other Melbourne clubs should look at themselves to find out why Judd and Warnock didn't choose you (i.e Melbourne and Collingwood)!
