Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

I think Carlton would be interested in stevens, that big bodied in and under player that we need. Doubt we would give up more than a 2nd rounder for him or the pick we get from trading bower to freo

Not sure if we'd do it, or you'd do it...but thoughts on Stevens and our first round pick for Lucas?

I doubt that would happen.. Lucas is seen at carlton to be the ideal replacement for Scotland and Simpson on the wing, and considering hes rated pretty highly by the coaching staff i cant see us entertaining that trade.

I think if maybe Mitch Brown + Koby Stevens for Lucas and 2nd round pick would be more appealing

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

How about

Pick 14, Compo Pick, Daniel Jackson
>

Dangerfield & Maric?

Daniel Jackson is a required player, good player and will add grunt to Adelaide's side, something they would lose if they were forced to trade Dangerfield.

I'd say we are paying overs for either Jackson/Compo Pick for Maric, so add them both ALONG with our first rounder, and suddenly Adelaide are doing alright, we are pretty much giving that all up for Dangerfield because Maric could get picked up with a second round pick.

you wont get dangerfeild

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Just thinking of a three way trade...

Gold Coast: Lose pick 4, another first round pick, gain Tippett & McLean.
Carlton: Lose Lucas & McLean, gain Gunston and a first round pick.
Crows: Lose Tippet & Gunston, gain Lucas and pick 4.

Fills all clubs needs... Just a thought

Anymore thoughts on this?

I like the trade in theory - however, Carlton won't be interested in Gunstan.

Would sooner take another early draft selection instead (and somehow factor Essendon into the equation given thats where Gunstan will end up).

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

I'm sure most clubs would like to have him. He would be in our most important 3 players and would only be swapped for the ability to get an elite player.

None of this we'll give you Pick 25 and Mr Potatohead

By this I'm saying he's important to Port and I'm sure everyone will say I'm overrating him but what I'm saying is the truth - he's a required player but if the price was right.

i agree, every club rates it own players differently for various reasons.

but what would you take for pearce?

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

how about this one:
jack anthony for will thurfield

jack gunston for jarred rivers and/or mathew bate and either 1st or second round draft pick

Geez, we've been trying to flog Thursfield for a while, but Jack Anthony???? Would be in top 5 shitest footballers on an AFL list. Having said that, I doubt he'll be on Freo's list for long...

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Are Melbourne likely to delist Matthew Bate and if not what do you think they'd want for him - 3rd Round draft choice?

Throw in Cotchin and you could get Myke Cook too. We'd be paying overs, but it evens out.

Might not be delisted with Neeld coming in, possibly giving everyone a chance to show him what they have. But you would get him massively cheap. He would probably have been delisted at the end of the year if Bailey stayed.

He's got a contract for 2012. It depends on Neld's opinion of him - he played in the midfield for Casey last in the season and in R24 and did OK.

If he is traded a pick upgrade would be more useful than a straight 3rd rounder.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Any predictions on the winning GWS bid?

My prediction is that it won't be Freo's priority pick and two fringe players...

I'm also predicting Koby Stevens + WC first and second round to Geelong for Mitch Duncan and first and second round. Actually that's a wild guess - I'm just trying to think of who would like Stevens.

Ahhhhh no dice.

Mitch Duncan has played 30 games in a much better midfield than Stevens who has played what? 5-10? The pick swaps (if done now) would be worth 2 higher places. No thanks

Gold Coast may be paying overs, but think the others would have a real good look at it.

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Interesting on Wilson. He'd be right to want to leave as he won' play too much at WC. But we certainly couldn't demand much/anything.

From WC's point of view, we'd much prefer to send him to a weaker club given the likely strength of Carlton over the next few years. So maybe if he wanted to go we'd shop him round to other clubs to try to get him anywhere but Carlton. Does that happen much?

Very true.

What could Geelong offer? Would you even be interested?

Re: 2011 Trade Predictions - Part II

Jesse White + second round pick for Shaun Higgins?

I have no idea if that's fair or not, just throwing it out there.

I would prefer we steer far away from Jesse White. If you guys can't get the best out of him, no one can.

I could see Callum being a very decent player for Carlton, maybe a mid range pick upgrade?
