Is that a good thing- down the track?
Definitely. Having a core of quality players around the same age playing together usually leads to premierships. Most premiership teams have a 'core'. Just depends if the core turns out any good for us.

Probably been mentioned here before, but Kersten, Hamling and Hill went 1, 2, 3 after Forster, who played a single game. Some strange kind of irony that we might end up with all three.

So what happens if we sign a Free agent now?

Pick 23 is supposed to get affected and maybe shifted down but Hawks have it, would laugh if we recruited a free agent and Hawks pick got shifted to the end of the second round.

Wouldn't put it past the AFL to not think this one through

Will adding Hill + CMac - possibly Kersten to this "Core" whilst losing Pav and Mayne improve our 2016 Average of 10 g 10 b per game

I think yes

With so many needs covered in trading and with two more most likely in coming you'd think pick 7 would be best available.

A few weeks ago I was on the SPS wagon but he hasn't started since or at the combine. Perhaps he didn't compete in all drills?

I've shifted my focus, driven by very little resolve or research to Logue and Taranto. Both with great names at least and surely if we pick up Taranto he gets a nick name based on Tarantino movies...

Either way this draft and trading period through sheer volume will be closely examined down the track and is a turning point for the club.

Exciting times!

I love Barlow, but he isn't a better player than Lewis.

Agree to disagree then. Hits the scoreboard more and is far more accountable defensively. Lewis is one of the least damaging accumulators in the league, on par with Rockliff and Priddis. Nowhere near as good as Micky overhead either. It's a pretty yucky suggestion tbh

And let's not forget he's a sniping flog either.

Also possible that another trade (e.g. Barlow) may give us a pick in between to use. Hopefully Kersten is sorted by tomorrow afternoon and then we work on Hamling to complete our trades. GCS would be mad not to want Micky B but happy to keep him although the starting inside mid roles are probably taken at Freo.

Even if he's just going to be depth Barlow is a required player IMO. When the weather turns in late May he offers plenty especially in Victoria. In an elimination final at the MCG on a drizzly 8 degree night I want Barlow in my 22 over Langdon etc.

Not even close.

Lewis always looks to me to be a better player than he actually is. I've never worried much about him when playing Hawthorn - has always been Mitchell and Rioli that have torn us apart, with occasional cameos from Roughead, Burgoyne and Hodge.

Spot on Dom, I said it erlier somewhere that Barlow is our best wet weather mid, loves a heavy track

Slows everyone down to his speed and kills them with skills
