West Coast: Weren’t big players, but what they did was quality. Getting Sam Mitchell for pick No.88 was the best deal done of this trade period and bringing in Vardy addressed a clear shortage in the ruck. Some fans may be frustrated that West Coast were not more active, but it looks a trade period of well reasoned thinking. A

with about next years pick 40 based on points and a whole lot of calculations ....... a good dealA pick between #54 and #72, not so bad.
Updated."West Coast traded for effectively an assistant coach and vaguely tall invalid permanently attached to drip after surgery"
F-
35 & 71 for 73 and our 2nd next year
hmmm, we must have someone in mind.
Not that many spots - Points, points, POINTS!Anyone know how many open list spots GWS have? Noting their max and min list size is now in line with the rest of the competition and they can only bring as many picks to the draft as they have open spots. I can see 71 moving significantly forward Just on the back of GWS having 11 picks before it,
Final standing:
11 players out (7 senior list: Pavlich, de Boer, C. Pearce, Mayne, Hannath, Grey, Mzungu) (4 rookie list: Deluca, Smith, Morabito, Hurley {3b})
4 players in (4 senior list: McCarthy, B. Hill, Hamling, Kersten)
Empty slots: 3 senior list, 3 rookies (plus any category B rookies if we go down that path again).
This is assuming we stick with the 39/5 squad ratio. I'm also assuming that neither Nyhuis or Uebergang will be promoted.
National draft:
Rookie draft:
- Pick 7 (1st round)
- Pick 35 (2nd round)
- Pick 40 (2nd round)
- Pick 71 (4th round) *only if Silvagni delisted
- Pick 79 (5th round) *only if Barlow delisted
- Pick 3
- Pick 21 (Deluca?)
- Pick 39 (Gray?)
but they were a few above 40 to start with. I'd ask the GWS board but I don't think they'd have a clueGWS lost ten senior listed players I believe.
*SA hat on*
Look, Hamling was delisted from Geelong and outside of a good finals series wouldn't be best 22 ahead of Adams. Kersten is a spud that wasnt best 22 and the fact Geelong brought in Black to replace him says it all. Hill is a soft front runner in a good team, and if we didn't get the MacCarthy over the line, Bondy and Lloyd should be shot. You idiots are happy with accepting mediocrity.
The guys we've brought in were fringe in their own teams, so pat yourselves on the back all you want - we're still in no better a position. We couldn't nab Hogan this trade period, which says a lot about the club and our inability to attract talent. And to cap it off we traded our first pick down 4 positions in the draft which will lose us the ability to get a top rated player for the first time since 2008. You pencil necks are a joke if you think these trades have made the club better.
*SA hat off*
It's nuts, they have 12 picks under 77. That's 12 live picks before Hawthorn enters the draft at pick 88.GWS lost ten senior listed players I believe.
Be 8 taken absolute max, what with academy bids chewing up picks. It's nuts, they have 12 picks under 77. That's 12 live picks before Hawthorn enters the draft at pick 88.
Hopefully they only use around 6-8 of them
GWS lost ten senior listed players I believe.
Doesn't their list size shrink anyway? How many do they need to take?
Hell yeah
Can someone give me a hell yeah?
MelbournePersonally, I wouldn't mind to see him back as a High HFF to see what he could do under Ross..
Yeah I don't think he'd be much happier here tbh. Still! He'll no doubt end up somewhere in the PSD, anyone know where he's from originally?
Good summary. With the GC trade we also upgraded that pick 73 to 71. Since we have no father/son/Academy players needing points it can only mean we are also after someone late in the draft otherwise there would be no point in swapping 4th rounders. That is bad news for Barlow or SNOS. Could be ruck backup for example.
Also by trading back into the 2nd round this year we get someone and get a year of development into them versus a 2nd round next year. Probably fits better with getting the list ready for another crack.
