Dal Santo was dropped mid-year...is that the only blood in the water so far? Harvey has retired so I don't they would trade another mid for a draft pick (given they finished 4th). Not enough blood yet for me, but I'd take him in a heartbeat if the Saints wanted to let him go.

There wont be to many clubs lining up for Fosdike. He was used as trade bait a few years back and there was very little interest in him then. Even though he is a premiership player, I think you would be lucky to get a third rounder for him.

Well maybe we should trade fossie to the crows for ken mcgregor in a strait swap, and before everyone says mcgregor is a hack, i think he would get more game time with us in the next 2-3 yrs as a kpp then fossie will in the midfield.... Besides i would like to see us have a shot at someone like sean rusling, the pies have a bit of depth up forward with cloke, reid, anthony, dawes and rocca, i think he would be a good fit and "gettable" for maybe a player (ablett, buchanan???) and maybe a late 2nd or 3rd rounder...

Why do we want another list filler in Mcgregor?

McGregor couldn't hold down a position in an Adelaide forward line desperate for a tall marking option. He'll be 28 at the start of next season. We already have Playfair; that's bad enough.

Rusling has played 6 games in the last 2 years at Collingwood. That just about equates to the number of shoulder reconstructions he's had.

Hawkins is a NSW boy, right? Can we lure him to the Harbour City?

Hawkins is a country farm boy. I'd imagine the Geelong environment would suit him much more than Sydney.

Like Jonathan Brown he's a father/son selection who's always supported the team he now plays for.

He's also potentially a 10 year star kpp, so I think the (long winded) answer to the question is NO. Particularly after the GF.

I'd love to learn Roosy's had a chat with Ryan Gamble, if we're talking about Geelong forwards. This bloke is going to be a star, I like the look of him far more than Hawkins, who has always struck me as too cumbersome.

Re: Chris Egan

Sammy Iles could be something, we were expected to recruit him when he was in the draft so he's a possibility.

From what I've seen of Gamble he's looked OK, but he's listed at only 184cm.
Now obviously he plays tall, but not a KPP. If we keep ROK* I don't think much value in taking the Gamble. :)

* I know ROK is versatile, but keep our best players in their best positions.

PS I think Hawkins will be a top line player. He reminds me of a huge 2 year colt, that with proper training will dominate at 3. Yep, bloody strange analogy. :D

Re: Courtney Johns....

I'm going against the trend here.
I don;t think Johns ever got the chance to cement a place in Essendon's forward structure, and he's a forward not a defender (maybe like Heath Grundy).
He was also almost crippled by the injuries he had in his first 2-3 seasons, I think the worst was some serious hip problem.
But he's a key forward in a team that had Lloyd and Lucas, so he was only ever used as a fill-in and seemed to be dropped after a game or two here and there, which is not going to have helped his development or his confidence.
I know Sheedy rated him a superstar at the start of 04.
It might be too late, his mindset regarding footy might now be so shot that he's not worth it, but he's built like a champion, and it might pay to remember two words: Ted Richards. Five years and 33 games at the Bombers, and now we love him.

I'm just saying he might be worth talking to, and sussing out his health, physical AND mental.

Just a thought.

Re: Courtney Johns....

Oh FFS, not another one. If it's not an Essendon supporter suggesting we should trade O'Keefe for Lovett, it's one of our own entertaining the idea of Johns being in the r&w next year.

Why not get Hershey's to sponsor us and be done with it:rolleyes:

Oh and just in case you didn't pick up on it, that's a big fat stinking NO from me.

I said "just a thought". I said I was going against the trend.
Maybe when someone starts a thread, there should be a rider: Post only if you agree.

I've posted on Chris Egan, Andrew Lovett, Wayde Mills and others. It's coming up trade week, Sydney didn't win the premiership and was a long way from the best teams, suggesting we're going to need to make SOME changes. Which si why we discuss such things here.

Stop heckin'g crying, mate. It's just talk on an online forum between faceless electronic identities who have no connection to the reality of what will happen in the next two weeks.
Fck Hershey's, where do you want me to send the Kleenex?

I very much get what you mean, except I think Hawkins went backwards this year, whereas Gamble stepped up whenever he got a chance, and I thought was a bit unlucky to miss out to Lonergan over the final month or so.

I just really like Gamble. He certainly seems taller than 184cm. He certainly plays much taller.

Re: Courtney Johns....

You just wasted vital wrist power because I was actually talking about super11, the one who started the thread.

No crying here, just think it's a very dumb suggestion and should be shot down accordingly.

Recruiting a player like Johns would be a huge backward step and anyone who thinks it's a good idea is surely having a lend.

Fair enough, I just don;t think we lose anythign by taking to someone such as Johns, sussing out some things.

And I don;t need wrist power for anything else, so it's not wasted.

Re: Courtney Johns....

Johns tore his acl playing for Bendigo in July, so I doubt anyone will look at him. He wasn't that bad, but his body was pretty much shot before he even started.

You guys are definitely into Lovett though...but only extremely optimistic Bomber fans think there's a snowball's chance in hell that O'Keefe would be part of the deal.

He plays a bit similar to Micky O. Good contested mark and a great kick for goal. There's no chance the Cats would let him go.

i agree that the cats aren't going to let HIM go, but its a possibility that they would be open to trade one of their forwards. hawkins/longergan/mooney can't all fit into their forward line and there might be some itchy feet if they don't feel they will get the opportunities next year.

if only nathan abblett was still playing, because then (in my mind), one of their other forwards would definitely be on the market.

why would you want another forward?

this one is out of the bag... but should we be chasing 'nathan ablett'???

we need a kpf

he dislikes the attention given to afl players.... but in sydney he'll get alot less focus

he was originally convinced to enter the afl, so he can earn enough money to buy his mum a house (sweet isn't it)... which he can do if he continues his career

there's probably a minute chance of this happening.... but i would still like to see roo's fly out to geelong to give it a crack
