You're going to get Mase all worked up now.

Wouldn't mind Sherman from the Lions, would you class him as an oustide mid?

I wouldn't view him as an outside mid in the style of Lovett or Tenace (shudder), but he's certainly a running midfielder.

IIRC we had some initial interest in him last year, but it went nowhere and to be honest I'm not sure that's not where Sherman's career is going. He does seem to have stagnated.

Player I'd like is Djerkurra from Geelong.
Now admittedly I haven't seen him since his junior days and he's had a few injuries, but he's quick, can play inside or out and can go forward and kick goals.

With an abundance of relatively similar players (e.g Byrnes, Stokes, Varcoe, Ablett, Chapman)* at Geelong I'd at least like us to enquire.

*I hasten to add I'm talking type here & I do realise there is quite a divergence in talent in that group.

And yes I do know we also have Buchanan, Moore, Veszpemi etc, but none of them go near the pace of Djerkurra.

What about Varcoe? His name was being thrown up on the weekend as possible, and he's quick.

Pick + Hawks Player for ROK

As you prob have all read on news articles and on the Forums the Hawks have become favourite for ROK.

Paul Roos has stated that he wants a first round pick and a player for ROK.

I havn't seen any threads dedicated to this as most of the other threads just talk about the draft pick but I was interested to know the thoughts of fellow swans fans about which player you would like packaged in with a pick.

I for one would be extremely interested in Thorpe however i dont think that the Hawks would package him with either a first or second round pick for ROK, they value Thorpe highly.

The only other player i can see the Hawks possibly releasing that i would like at the swans is clinton young. I like what i see with this kid and i think he would provide alot of run on the wing and give us some extra pace that we need.

So i was thinking:
ROK + our second rounder for clinton young + hawks first rounder.

thoughts?

I get the feeling if we got him I'd spend most of my time yelling "GO ON".

Poor explanation coming up; he strikes me as a guy who looks like an intuitive player, but isn't.

It might be a confidence thing (given the players he is surrounded by), but I get the impression he looks for others to win the ball, rather than go in and get it himself. Having said that he chases & tackles with ferocity, so he's definitely not soft.

I'd definitely prefer him to Byrnes, who seem to be the Geelong player being shopped around.

Dont be like that, i was hoping we could discuss the 'possible trade' of Stanton for Goodes plus our first round pick ?
Nah we'll keep Stants thanks. Would be great to get a 'legitimate' Brownlow winner onto the list only for him to finish outside the top 10 of our B&F but probably goes against our youth policy:thumbsu:

Enjoy the next few seasons of AFL.

Goodes would be the best player on your list.

Thank you, i will.

Please, if you intend to come here again to talk 'possible trades' try talking out of the orifice closest to the ceiling, not the one closest to the floor.

Enjoy a good few years of early first round picks

We've had our fair share of early picks. Time for us to move over and give you a crack. You couldn't have timed your run much worse though with the introduction of the new teams. As a fan of AFL I worry for Sydney's future.

Yeah how's that working out for ya?

Not sure I have said much about Tenace. Pretty sure you are referring to Prismall though ;)
Tenace, Prismall, what's a name between Geelong hacks? FWIW, I think Tenace is worse than Prismall.

Seems you did not heed the advice !

Don't worry we'll be fine. Thanks for your concern though, I can sleep easier at night now.

Our youth policy is going along fine. It was implemented this year and perhaps due to a large injury list, hence poor performances, you find the need to ridicule it. Names like Gumbleton, Myers, Reimers etc will be household names soon enough. The plethora of young talent we have will be added to in this one last uncompromised draft. In a way I am pleased to get one final crack before our inevitable climb up the ladder.

You are hysterical !

Thanks for the laugh

One of the funniest things about Essendon fans this season has been the shameless outpourings of love for, and the bestowing of legend status on, Scott Gumbleton.
So many of them were saying EXACTLY the same stuff about another highly talented, highly rated injury-prone West Australian recruit about 4-5 years ago.
His name was Courtney Johns.

Gee, wait til one of the Bomber faithful sees this, sees the comparison, and absolutely fires himself right out of his own pants in furious indignation.
