Hammer over Gibbs?

Do people on here watch football or you all just live in some sort of f*cking fairyland.

Gibbs had one good season this year and his stocks are depreciating. Hartlett's best is yet to come. any1 who watched our 2014 season knows how good his best. cant wait to watch the cows pay rediculous amounts for a guy who will play 2 good games hahahahahahah

Both showdowns.

Suprised people don't want Gibbs just to annoy his father?

as if we can afford to be that petty.

Would have said that about a Cornes 20 years ago.

true. consider any deal on its merits, list profile, age profile, net salary impact, not on Gibbs's bloody parentage.

next case: has anyone noted that signing Ben Jarman, delisting Mitchell and trading Neade would increase the average height of our list? ;)

Gibbs is a very good player but is not for us I don't think - cost will be too high in $ and in picks. Sometimes you just have to accept that you can't be interested in everyone.
In better news no clubs have shown interest in Dawes because if Dawes or Jesse White play for Port I will be taking up an interest in Badminton or Women's Soccer.

If we'd had Glenelg as one of our SANFL teams in the F/S rule we could have had him.

My hazy memory says they were initially until Gibbs senior kicked up a stink.

RussellEbertHandball might be able to confirm this.

Jesse White is ten times the player Dawes is.

One and a half pages and no mention of Gibbs being a dickhead? Or don't we have that policy anymore?

On what basis? Having a pissy little twitter fight with a now-delisted Port player. A terrible haircut?

I don't think Gibbs is the player that we need for the cost he will require both in terms of picks and salary, but there's no doubt that he is a quality footballer. The comparisons with Hartlett are actually pretty relevant - capable of playing the same type of roles juggling time in the midfield and at half-back, flashy disposal and cop similar criticism. On performance Gibbs is clearly ahead, but on potential (and noting the couple of years age gap) I don't think I'm being too one-eyed to say I'd prefer to put faith in Hamish.

Yep we initially were aligned with Glenelg and he kicked up a big stink and it got changed. That's now why Port are aligned to 6 SANFL clubs and the crows 4 because it was a smoothing exercise to allocate the number of 200 game fathers equally between the 2 clubs. Before the change it was 5 all.

Dont need gibbs, If Trengrove is gonna play up forward an second ruck, we definitely need a tough inside mid. But I think we need a fullback, Brand would fit the bill, 198 cm fast fb to help hombsch out, having austin or clurey as third tall. If we stay injury free we should be okay. Time for a few young players to step up.

I'm not against Nathan Vardy as I see him as a 70% forward 30% ruck kind of guy and a potentially good foil for both Ryder and Dixon. But if I read again that the plan is in Vardy out Lobbe; ruck situation sorted - I'll explode.

To go into a season with only one genuine number 1 ruckman who hasn't played for a full year would be pure stupidity. It's pretty much asking to have the same issue we had this year.

Trading in Vardy and out Lobbe is a good start but can't be all we do.

Frampton would surely be in the frame for 2017 but yes, we need to add to our stocks beyond replacing Lobbe with Vardy.

absolutely if lobe goes we need another full time ruck if Ryder goes down, sure Vardy and Jacko could be a very effective combo but we don't want to rely on Vardy as our only ruck back up to Ryder given his injury history.

Also, if Jacko is intended to go forward this year how does Vardy fit in ? I assume that means Trengove goes back to defence.

TIME for the underperforming SENIOR players to step up and earn the PAY!!!!

Is there anyone other than me who vomits at the mention of the "romanticism" of the father-son pick when Tom Mitchell is quite happy to leave his father's club after 65 games.
In fact he is also believed to have had earlier discussions with Gold Coast.

Recruited as a father-son selection in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft at pick No.21 overall, Mitchell has played 65 games for the Swans, including all 26 matches this year.
He averaged 27.9 possessions a game this season and was one of the Swans' best players in their Grand Final loss to the Western Bulldogs, finishing with 26 possessions and two goals.
Mitchell finished eighth in the Swans' best and fairest count on Thursday night following a ninth-place finish in 2015.
It is believed Mitchell also had discussions with Gold Coast two months ago before settling on Hawthorn as his preferred destination.

Not when you consider father Barry played for Sydney, Collingwood and Carlton

He was offered a dud deal by Sydney thanks to their commitment to Tippett & Franklin. Had to leave.
