With the Duursma talk from the other day. Don't give up on him so quick.

His season was stuffed due to injuries and the fact he was bulked up to play in the middle, when he probably would be better on the wing.

Dunkley averages 226 metres gained per game. That is well below average for a midfielder. Wines averages 370. Neale averages 367. Miller averages 521.

To put it in some context, Matt Crouch averaged 247 this year. Even Rockliff in his peak piggy crab days in 2019 averaged 297.

That's the difference between him and the elite midfielders in the comp. He is a short kick, handball type player. So if you consider his kicking efficiency with respect to his metres gained its very poor. Low hurt factor.

He's not an elite midfielder. He's like a Tom Mitchell or Brad Crouch type. My controversial take - if you wanted a Dunkley type you could just get Matt Crouch for a hundredth of the price and he would give you a similar output.

the point of crouch v dunkley is worth consideration when you count the dollar value, you can easily say crouch will give you 80 percent of what dunkley will give you at a fraction of the cost. at the end of the day it doesnt matter, we still have hinkley and when he goes then we can go about being a premiership team again, were just being theatrical until that happens

So you want Priddis' and Woewodins, I would recommend against that.

I’m struggling to remember back to woewodin but I do recall his year 2000 was very good and he was reasonably handy player for a 4 or 5 year period but the Brownlow probably flattered his career.

Priddis was lucky to win a Brownlow but was a very good player between 2010-2016.

So yeah if we could add some handy players like that I would.

I don't want Dunkley so I don't want Crouch.

That being said, I could see the Bulldogs bringing in Crouch to replace Dunkley. I think that would be smart from them
Yes the guy who can't make the worst midfield in the league would be a great signing for the deepest midfield in the league, great post.

You’ve lost all credibility putting Ollie in the same category as those 2, you should be embarrassed.

ollies a good player, no doubt, he's been the most consistant midfielder in our team for the past 2 years, prior to that its fair to say he hadnt yet lived upto the hype and should never have been made captain based on some 'chosen one' mentallity by Ken and the board ever since he was drafted. Right at this moment i would say he should be captain with the proviso that i still havnt seen any real leadership quality from him that makes me want to say hes gonna be a good captain, i would say his mentallity as a leader has been formed into vanilla and softness by Ken and thats not gonna end well. He will just parrot what Ken says with out any pushback to original through because that is what he's been trained to do. Personally id like SPP as captain

Part of the reason he doesn't play at the Crows is due to his age in the context of their list build. The bulldogs are (most likely) gunning for a flag and want to optimise their performance now. And Crouch, at his best, is a good player (although injury issues have hampered him recently).

He's literally free from a draft pick perspective. I don't know what the bulldogs salary cap position is, but he would almost be free from a salary perspective as well because the Crows would most likely pay the majority of his contracted value. So you can use the cap space to retain or attract other players. All he would cost is a list spot for a year.

So you get in a first round pick + more for Dunkley, you save 500-600k a year over the length of the contract and you get a player who offers a similar, albeit slightly worse, output to Dunkley. With zero risk.

Sounds pretty genius to me.

In terms of Amon replacements, Duursma, Farrell, Bonner, Bergman all don't have the footskills to play on the wing.

I can only think of Houston

Farrell doesn’t have foot skills ??
