Took him to task about trying to say we are all in next yr. We brought a 19 yr old in you muppet.

What did CD say?
Basically challenged CRowe about the term “going all in” when they’ve drafted in JHF for less than what other clubs have offered, still have next years 2nd, 3rd, 4th picks, traded to use 7 first round picks last 4 years (3rd most in the comp), it points to sustainable squad refreshing.
Then went on to say “ if you mean by all in, you mean wanting to win the premiership “ then Port Adelaide do set higher standards than most other clubs and badically “exist to win premierships” or words to that effect.
Crowe backed down fairly quick, trying to say “that’s what I meant“ and “ it’s not a negative”.

How many times did that muppet say 'but you're all in next year'.... FFS CD was talking to a brick wall. CD replied each time very well!

Also loved that banter he fed about listing to them again 😂

Lol @ Rowey questioning as to why North would let JHF go.
Davies is all class in handling Rowey’s crap.
A year ago Rowey’s club offered North 3 firsts so desperate were they to get him.🤣

Wow! I love CD'd last comment here.....

Rowe: "Timmy G is coming back."
CD: "I look forward to that, I'll start listening again."

"Whack!"

Quite ridiculous to suggest we are 'all in on next year' as a result of trading in JHF.
We basically secured our midfield for the next 10 years.

Rozee - 22
Butters - 22
Duursma - 22
Bergman - 21
Sinn - 19
JHF - 19

Yep. That’s a great collection of young mids

Also

Spp - 24
Farrell - 23
Burgoyne - 19
Drew - 24

And we’ve got one of the younger collections of key forwards as well

Marshall - 24
Georgiades- 21

So a couple of interstate kids leave Vic clubs now they are going to look into changing rookie contracts to 3 yrs lol *en VFL
Well it will work against the Vic sides too. Saying that, it just means three years to develop a kid and then poach them to plug and play I guess.

I’d go the other way. I’d allow the first rounds pick to negotiate any contract terms with the club, 1-10 years. Amount can be uncapped.

Make minimum spend and 3 year contracts for second round and above.

Players in Year 1-4 shouldn't be included in the salary cap. It gives clubs that have a lot of young kids the ability to pay their senior players more.

At year 4 clubs can plan their contracts for when the younger guys hit year 5 and in the cap. Clubs could front end contracts so these guys aren't leaving due to cap issues at least. It would need some rules or Carlton and Geelong would have guys on 7 year contracts @50k plus paper bags.

Maybe they can explain why Geelong were able to extend the length of time to pay his wage but Gold Coast could not.
Gold Coast couldn't do it because Bowes didnt want them too.

They'd already pushed a significant amount of his money back to these two years. Why would Bowes agree to Gold Coast further delaying paying him what he's owed?

Was the lesson that even after a 0-5 start we can head into the two easiest possible games to end the season on a 1-5 streak?

There was practically no change in the coaching.

We look to still be running on the fitness staff we ordered from Wish.

Our list isn't markedly better going into 2023.

We still can't dominate teams in the top 8.
This is incorrect
There was a big change in ball movement
We went from a corridor team in thw first month to a hug the boundary team

Probably, but we've gotten close at stages, if our midfield is dominant it may mask our problems.

Obviously some hopeful thinking, but not outta the realms of possibility.
I don’t think our midfield is “dominant” very often. I wonder whether we get hurt because we play an extra around the ball at ball ups and throw ins.

Maybe if a club is going to get the benefit of a salary dump high draft pick you need to take on the existing contract terms, and if you elect to restructure contract then the trade meeds to bechecked for equality ... like all other deals.
The AFL doesnt let restricted free agent contract get changed once agfreed, sdo the same could be done here in the first instance.

You would think that a system that already has a 'checks and balances' process within it, would naturally apply that to any new situation/circumstance.

I bet the next one that gets proposed will be thoroughly vetted.
