I don’t mind that. We play the most defensive dribble anyway and have Drew to counteract that. We need some attacking players.

Could say the same about Merret and Macrae and look how they’ve turned out (not that Fiorini is close to their level).

Ive watched a fair bit of him due to holding him in a keeper league and its Tom rockliff home brand version

I agree there is a role for him in certain sides but dont think thats here

Hey Port fans, I haven't seen too many of his games, but what's happened with Hayes? There have been big wraps on him, but as you all say, isn't getting a game ahead of part timers.

Is it a Hayes - Hinkley thing, or are there too many areas of his game to work on?

He seems the perfect young ruckman the crows should be looking for.

Hayes is not being played because Hinkley is an idiot. He would rather play more mobile players in the ruck so despite the fact that we lose the tap we win the clearance.
This is because in Hinkleyball if you win the clearances you win the game so having 2 extra mids at the contest (one a ruck and another a forward) means that you will win the contest.
If you watch closely at the Port box during the game Hinkley is studiously watching the clearance stats (while he's not putting bets on the Dapto Dogs and drinking Coke Zero) and at the end of the game he lifts his head up and we've lost by 4 goals.

Yes I do want to replace McEntee with Hayes. Honestly Hayes could just stand there and do nothing and he would do almost as much as McEntee. At least he wouldn't turn the ball over.

I'm all for creative coaching decisions in the last 2 games. Let's also try Jase in the ruck?

The question that needs to be asked about Ladhams is not whether he's playing well for Sydney.

It is if you were not certain that you want to play Hayes why would you trade Ladhams for SFA.

It is a decision that vandalises the list.

One is a small forward and one is a ruckman. Did you want Hayes to replace McEntee? Not sure he'd be able to offer the same defensive pressure.

There's been way too much bashing of McEntee on this board for my liking. It's not his fault he's been playing out of his natural position. Give the kid a break he's barely played a handful of games.

Ya ever wonder to yourself where/what mcentee actually does during games with the numbers he puts up especially with such low pressure act stats. I reckon he could jump the fence punch a dart and down a keg jump back on and no one would realise.

Anyway enough of the McEntee bashing, Hayes is as good as gone even if he is contracted we have too much belief in Teakle both internal and publicly stated to hold onto Hayes. Will probably net us a third round if we’re lucky

i don't think McEntee is suited to a role as a forward (not enough tricks and goal sense) but if we are keeping him, I'd like to see how he goes as a close checking small defender. Currently nobody on our list can do that role. Tackling and being fast enough to apply pressure are his standout qualities.

Teakle didn't offer much around the ground last week, has shown less around the ground in the SANFL, and a half cooked Lycett is going to be showing much around the ground either. Hayes is the best option. We're now in a position where we hope Visentini is going to be a) good enough and b) ready by 2024, because he will need to be. Meanwhile we will watch 2 ruckman we pushed out play for other teams for the next 8-10 years.
