Don’t believe everything the media (even Port linked media sprout).

This is purely about a decent (front ended) contract offer from a club that has significant cap space to burn.

Has nothing to do with the position he plays, it’s a management diversion.

What did c4 say about Howard ?

Malibu#27 this is the original quote dated 19 September 2019. C4 disappeared the next day.

Sutcliffe re-signs! mwahahahaha!!!

Oh come on!

Firstly, post the transcript of the Cripps statement here, not the media synopsis of it

Secondly, interesting that his manager hid the fact that he and Doogs had initiated this by having discussions with St Kilda long in advance of the exit interview!

As I said, there is this Nigerian Prince that can make you a lot of money ....
Ffs I heard Cripps on some panel with other footy list managers from other clubs on trade radio at about 8 am this morning at work. I don't care what you choose to believe. He made it clear in dougals exit interview they want to move him on.

Yeah, there can be no doubt that all three parties have been involved in this one for a while.

This from the Club website,

General Manager – Football, Chris Davies explained the club's position.
“Dougal is aware that he is a highly valued, required player at Port Adelaide,” Davies said.
"Given he is contracted to the end of 2022, the club will only entertain a trade with St Kilda if it is in our best interests to do so.
We will discuss the situation with the Saints but if a suitable outcome for our club cannot be reached, Dougal is well aware that he will remain a Port Adelaide player in 2020.”

That suggests that the Club is only prepared to release Dougal if the price is right and that Dougal and his manager are aware of this. It also suggests that there is a certain amount of bs being bandied around. It would not appear that Dougal Howard has ever been told that he is not a required player.

I have to admit to being confused as to why you would tell a 'highly valued and required player' to explore his options.

If the club has told him that he is free to explore options and he nominated St Kilda, there is no way he is still here next year if we get even barely reasonable compensation.

Mixed messages galore coming from this football department.
