Nah. Chad got us Burton, Duursma and an upgrade for Rozee. Polec got us Butters. Lets see what happens with Dougal. fu** Ken. It's a rebuild.
Yep hopefully we can get rid of Dougals old ass and get some Mor youth in

According to trade page on afl
"Could the Saints send picks 12 and 18 to Port Adelaide for 10, Howard and Ryder (with some late assets from both clubs possibly being involved as well)?"

Fk off!

So we downgrade pick 10 and Howard to the value of a second rounder but this will be balanced by 'late assets'. Lol. Facepalm.

Dougal hasn't gone yet. Let's see what happens.

If we didn't get Burton, Duursma, Butters and Rozee, (and Lycett) the club would be well and truly ****ed. Old average players (eg sam gray) get you stuff all in terms of trade as the crows are finding out. Good luck rebuilding with late picks in a shit draft.

nah

keep it long enough that ’player X is in Bali and gee we cant reach them but have a 4th round pick’ bs can’t happen

tbh im in favor of open season on trades for all of October

This is gonna sound strange, but I feel like extending the trade period out to a month or two, or reducing it to 5 days would actually be quite similar in terms of effect.

No Butters was just our standard first round pick.

Pick 11 was acquired in the Polec/Pittard trade and then given to Freo with about four other picks for Pick 6, which then got switched to Pick 5 in the deal with the Lions for Mayes (which included the Pick 35 that the Hawks threw in as part of the Wingard trade).

Ken “Dougal, I’m not sure you are a part of our future plans. I want you to play forward”

Dougal “But Ken, I want to play in defence. I play my best footy there and have spent years developing down back”

Dougal “But I have no intention of leaving port, I love it here but just think I can best assist the team down back”

Ken “Dougal, if you can’t agree with me, you’re on the trade table”

Ken “KT, I couldn’t come to an agreement with Dougal. He didn’t conform to the idea of a team of short people. I think we’re going to package him with the rest of our talls”

KT “Dougal, your time at port has come to an end. We’re sending you off with Ryder to be at the Saints together. We don’t believe your height and skills are not needed at port”

Ratten “Guys we got a bargain here, Geary go meet the new boys and settle them in”

Ken “To all our fans, unfortunately Dougals time at port has come to an end. We wish him all the best for the future”

Port fans “I can’t handle this, I can’t sit through another season of being destroyed by tall forwards and Ben Brown every time!”

Port fans “ken, you were the last man standing at one point in time, but we want Dougal back and you gone! March for Dougal!”

I'm predicting we'll scrape into 8th place with an 11-11 record, lose by 119 pts in the EF, and retain Hinkley for 2021 because trigger.

You take that back

Everyone relax our club knows what it's doing finishing 10th all the time doesn't just happen, it takes years of consistent doing the opposite of what premiership clubs do

Its an amazing achievement tbh
I’ll tell you one thing, next year we had better finish either completely out of the eight or in a Prelim final.
Anything in between would be a massive disaster.

Bull ******* shit. We have plenty of small forward options and if we wont blood guys like Cox, Woodcock and Patmore then we might as well fold the club, because if you won’t take risks and you won’t genuinely invest in youth you will. NEVER have a good enough list to stay up top for long.

Sutcliffe is worthless to this team in 2020 and so is Chris Davies fu** off back to cricket George
Honestly this is pretty valid.

I think if youngsters are available and in form they should get priority. I agree that our coach has definitely been too scared to select youngsters over the last few years. I agree that in hindsight playing Broadbent over Garner was absolutely criminal. Because even though Broadbent was the superior player at AFL level this year (once he was in form I had him as one of our best defenders), we didn’t have any intention of re-signing him, and to make it worse we didn’t even achieve anything with him in the side.

I think we perhaps shouldn’t have played Sutcliffe either but our forward line looked so much better to me when he came into the side, I could be wrong of course. It was definitely much better once Marshall and Dixon we’re actually playing OK as well.

Anyway I just get the feeling if we get hit by injuries or all our small forwards are struggling at SANFL level he could be a big help. If he plays more than like 5 games I’ll be pretty disappointed though, and I understand why everyone would expect that to happen under Hinkley.

I just don’t want us to have Motlop, and Farrell injured or in horrible form, have to play Woodcock and Cox, immediately realise they aren’t up to AFL level and then not have anyone else.

Maybe Ken will pick Sutcliffe ahead of them unfairly and I’ll lose my shit, but I’d still defend his spot on the rookie list, particularly as SANFL captain.

Having thought about it though, I definitely see your point about selecting no-hopers ahead of potentially good youngsters. I just also think we should have actually done better last year, and I don’t want to see us completely give up on winning/making finals to play youth unless it’s absolutely dire.

I would rather have this happen and we can see exactly where we are at and what our people are capable of (and make positive changes with the knowledge), than sit around like we have been doing, re-signing untried unproven rookies overdue for a shot, and eventually delisting them after nothing.

If we rely on youth and our list proves to be a house of cards then we a) need to find out, b) work out whats bits are good and whats not, and c) fix the bad bits!

How do we do any of that if we lean on delistworthy grinders to cover gaps? What do we learn, where does improvement come from? Its a shield from accountability.

Covering gaps isnt getting us any closer to premierships, its protecting jobs

This is the offseason from hell.

Hey Ken. If nobody else wants Sam Gray, even on the cheap, maybe it's because he's no ******* good! Maybe he shouldn't have been an absolute gold pass fixture in the side for the last three ****ing years!
Hurrrr durrrr “those people who criticise Sammy don’t know much about footy” hmmm maybe not Ken but I’m pretty sure the entire league does

Don't know about 2020, and maybe you don't as well re Sutcliffe
I remember the R20 game against Essendon when he got a quick handball from Robbie and goaled.
In the 3rd Q he made 2 great passes on the run, to Marshall & Amon, both goaled.
Time will tell. Maybe they still want him in the Maggies.

I personally think out of all 4 of them 3 are duds/will be duds (Motlop, Cox, Woodcock) Farrell might come good with some time under his belt has got a beautiful set shot

Sutcliffe was ignored by opponents because they had better players to mind, exactly like how West Coast’s spud Petruccelle kicked a bunch of goals on us while we shut down playmakers and won

Time will tell though huh, mad insightful that
