It is interesting how some players just demand your attention and how others don't.

Weitering, Curnow and Cuningham have all forced you to look at them, this pre-season.
They already look like established AFL players by way of how they go about things.
McKay and Silvagni have also looked good, but outshone by the aforementioned.

Byrne, Boekhorst, Kerridge, Whiley and Smith have all had eye-catching moments/periods of time.
Wouldn't be at all surprised should the majority of these guys be playing regularly by years end.....and several will start soon enough.

Lamb has shown good moments but has had some sloppy moments as well.
Wright really shows up through match sim. Could be handy at times for us this year.
Gallucci similar to Wright but just not as effective on my viewings.
Gorringe just doesn't scream 'look at me' although I've been told that he's been tracking well.

Glass-McCasker, Plowman and Sumner just haven't been in the main group often enough to get any gauge on them....................and then there's Phillips.
Have been absolutely thrilled for what I've seen of him at every session. It will be very interesting as to how we go into the season opener.
How would you compare Lamb and Tutt? Who, in your opinion, has the most chance of being a dependable player in future? Looking over games from last year, I dislike Tutt the more I see...simple mistakes that can be corrected but runs all day, Ellard/Armfield in effort.

We go a long way if these players step up this year
1. Phillips come on early to share ruck and forward with Kruezer
2. Cunningham play that linking outside mid on one wing
3. Curnow - third tall, leading forward , Jack Darling type
4. Gorringe to hold down CHF or FF with Casboult

Will be really beneficial if Kruezer and Philips have differing styles of forward and ruck play. Say a lead up vs stay at home style forward and a floating forward vs floating back style ruck. If they are differing could really change our dynamic and really disrupt the concentration of team defences.

2&3 just need to show they are good enough to be that in the next few years - bit early to place a full load on

They call it the Fat Club and it is, plainly, the club no one at Carlton wants to be a member of.

As part of making his mark and putting his stamp on Carlton to reinforce that standards had been lifted, new Blues coach Brendon Bolton and his fitness staff have set a higher fitness standard for players.

Each player had to have less than 12 per cent body fat – as measured by skinfolds – or be put into the Fat Club to undertake intense training to reduce skinfolds and improve running times before rejoining the main group.

Mention of one player still in fat club and leaving?

interesting that Wright was mentioned. Two boys from Adelaide. Kerridge and Wright- all in our elite fitness group. Added to the eddie betts comment when he went to adelaide and I think we can see the vast difference between the two clubs . Perhaps Jacobs was not fit enough when he was here to perform at an elite level? How will Menzel go?

I blame buttifant. Such a poor fitness coach. We went downhill when we let Cordy go. Look what Cordy has done at western Bulldogs after what he did under Ratten. He's now at GC this year so watch how they progress fitness wise.

i suppose that explains Collingwoods numerous finals appearance and flag.

So do I. He was terrible recently. If he was any good he'd still be employed at an AFL club.

I saw a colleague of my partners today who is a Blues fan. We got to talking and interestingly he said that his son used to play with SOSOS. I know he's had a few positive things said about him during training so far, and he will most likely take a few seasons to come on, but he said that he wasn't that good and was surprised we took him (apart from the obvious reason). Time will tell I guess and I'm happy to give a fair bit. Obviously need to bulk up a fair bit, but you can't hide behind your name forever and I guess he will get found out eventually if it's true.
Not intended to have a crack at Jack, but just thought I'd pass the little snippet of info on.
Where did that guys son end up?

As good as it has been to read about the regime and the change in attitude, I can't help but by a bit disappointed in what has transpired over the past 3-4 years. None o f this stuff is brain surgery.

Exactly - perhaps over longer.
The key to good coaching/leadership is consistency. There have been some obvious exceptions to
common sense standards in recent years. Read Yarran, Thomas, Menzel as notables. Add blokes like
Waite who were singled out with pointed fingers (hell he would have been valuable to keep with our
kids up forward).
Clear KPI's applied across the board is Management 101.
Most "complex" problems/issues can be brought back to bite size bits with those rare commodities
common sense, consistency and integrity.

Good old fashioned values, hard work and a modern game plan = :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

What does that have to do with anything? It's one person's opinion based on what he saw. What he saw is probably more than most of us have seen of him so far, so I thought it might be interesting to people. Take it how you will, but no need to get defensive like that. Personally I don't agree with that person's assessment either, though I don't really have anything factual to base it on, but I'm more than happy to give him time to bulk up and develop before writing him off, and where we got him in the draft it was virtually a free hit anyway.
It's good to see people standing up for SOSOS and offering their opinions on him, but I don't think your type of counter-argument holds ANY weight or is constructive in any way.
I think we've established that pretty much everyone here is happy to have him at the club, happy to give him the time he needs and excited about what he might be able to do for us in the future.
