My comment here doesn't pertain to anything that has been said so far. But, more than anything else, that's due to the hopeless misdirection of this forum. You are a rabble of self-serving and self-contradictory dimwits.

My evaluations:
Mazenod - Proficient. Seem to be a complete team with all the necessary ingredients for success. But it will be interesting to see if they can make the required step up during finals.
Hampton - Hard at it. I like their style of play. Their biggest weakness, I think, is their lack of self-belief. They seem to be surprised as well as proud every time they do well.
Monash Blues - Dxmxgxd is right. They are a dark horse.
Ajax - Soft.
Old Haileybury - Similar to Mazenod and Hampton in their style of play, but without the completeness of either. Lack strength in key areas, like their forward line and backline.
St Bedes/Mentone - They really come across as a seconds squad, breeding players for u/19 (2) and don't really come together as a team.
Parkdale - They only have a few good players, and don't command respect as a team.
PC - I guess... good on em?
Peninsula - Good running side, but they only have a few good players and not much heart.

I'd be interested to hear other opinions.

Solid assessment, if only the South section of the record made this much sense each week. Monash work well as a unit and will be interesting to follow come finals. Would have been less generous to Old Haileybury, like Peninsula and Parkdale lack depth. St Bedes have some very good young players but being a seconds side they struggle to gel as a team. Peninsula have struggled to get wins on the board but with a percentage of close to 70 have hardly disgraced themselves for a bottom side.

I would love to know how Ajax look set to play finals. I sincerely beleive that either ST Bedes or Haileybury would be more competitive come finals time. They are soft at the footy and rely on their skipper to go hard and get the ball out to the rest of them. They have a good forward by South standards in Fayman i will acknowledge. Their game play is predictable and lacks any spark. They are a team that from what i have seen, plays with no heart.

Stop philosophying Chief. And if it's not you, then I'll be damned.... he's got himself a protege.... hence my circumspect response can only be that I'm enjoying the philosophical attempt to undermine my credibility whilst articulately rubbing your own ego on that high horse. Arrogance doesn't look good on you.

What you feel a bit threatened because there is actually someone else not on your side?

Ahh, I'm glad you enjoyed it! So did I. But I must disagree... arrogance looks fantastic on me.

What i hav seen of Hampton they are the most confident and big-headed team that is sitting second on the ladder.

As for the rest i wud have 2 agree especially with monash here they have picked up a gun onballer so it will only increase there chances.

gun on baller? would this be Troy Jamieson by any chance? Not a bad pick up at all. havent seen him play since he was bottom age Scoresby 18's. still a bit of chop?

Anyone else have key players come finals time for the top 4 sides? whether they be returning from injury/seniors or just key players or important structural value players?

I think ST Bedes are expecting a few players back in the next couple of weeks. Not sure of the calibre though.

top 4 sides johnny. the 4 has already been sorted. just a matter of positions now. Mazenod should stay on top, outta hampton and monash to decide 1st who plays 1st qualifying.

Hahaha I would have to agree. Hampton are very arrogant. But I guess that's the distinction I'm making... I don't think they're so much arrogant footballers as they are arrogant people. I remember when we smashed them by 100 points, they still had the same rank demeanour about them at the end of the day. It's probably changed now from 6-7 rounds ago, but when I first saw them, although they had confidence abounds in themselves, they didn't have much confidence as a unit.
I think they're psychologically weak. Kick 6 goals in the first quarter and they'll roll over. But if no team gets on top, they'll take it to the siren.

name a side in this comp that wont roll over if they were 0-6 in the 1st?

oo a tough challenge, i acknowledge your point. but although i concede the outrageous figure i presented, i hold my point. I still think Hampton are immature and psychologically weak.

ps. who the hell is Vaughn Clarke? The guy in the record loves him.

Never even heard of him. what team?

mazenod had a fairly easy win but PC arent to go without credit. They are good running side but basic skills errors let them down as well as smaller bodies. They had good midfield pressure and mazenod werent able to get too many clean forward 50 entries. They will get better in time though no doubt about it. Big game next week against the Blues.

Have you seen who's still to play who:

Monash - Maz, Ajax, Old Hail, Hampton
Ajax - Bye, Monash, Hampton, Old Hail

My prediction....one of them won't win another game.
Who will it be???

Are Hailbury or the Bede Boys good enough to scrape in?

Mazenod - depth and quality, will be hard to beat with full side. Can be exposed once you play with their minds. They're use to copping abuse from their coach and so can lose confidence quickly. eg. when they play Hampton.

Monash - have not beaten a Top 4 side since Round 3 when they beat Ajax......and they were described as "the dark horse". Far from it. They yell and scream a lot, but that doesn't win finals. Quality footballers is what's required to win finals.

Hampton - injuries could destroy them. Lack of numbers in games and at training could cost them. Those that do turn up are fit though from their large home ground. Pinto is only any good on his home ground where he can find space. He hates it hard.

Ajax - SOFT AS BUTTER.....yet they have beaten Mazenod and Hampton. Can somebody tell me how. Fayman needs to fire.

OH - Have to win all games from here. Lacking numbers and talent. Need Korlos , Ridgway and Silberer to fire if they are a chance. They haven't played many games between them but are possibly the best players in the comp when fit.

St Bedes - Need to win all games too, but play the bottom 3 sides and Mazenod. Word is that their going to play some players from their 1st team against the Nodders to get them that scalp. Anything could happen!!!

In summary:
There's only one good team in this comp and that's Mazenod. Who can stop the likes of Dickson, Stanley, Deegan, the Weekes brothers, Kelly, Driver and Co. The list goes on. They are the best team by a mile. Just ask dmx.... there's still another 12 players who are coming back from injuries, 1sts or TAC.
Hampton are the only other side that deserve to play finals.
Watch out the Brindisi St boys as they swoop home and win the first semi against Ajax or Monash (neither side would win a game in Under Section 1 or 2)

........at least it looks like it will be an interesting finish to the season!!!

Goodnight

6 of the names you mentioned are part of the 12 so another 6. although the side is mostly consolidated now. Except stanley and kelly still playing 1's, Tye out for rest of H&A. Inglis and Weekes at Oakleigh.

Good analysis mate. Dont know wether the Beda boys can actually make finals. They will need to beat Maz away and for a few other things to fall their way.

I agree, i think it might be too much of a stretch for St Bedes at this stage. Their last month has not put them in a good position. They'd need to have a spectacular August to get them through. But they'll deservingly finish above OH.

As for Monash, this Saturday will be a telling game!

Definatly a huge one for the ashers. This week will deem them finals threat or finals farce. A loss by more than 2 goals would see them loose their granny contender status in my eyes.
I still think hampton are the best chance to knock off Maz provided the rovers can field their best 22.
Im not sure who i want to make the finals out of OH and Ajax. I hate them both so equally and dont think eitehr deserve to play finals footy.

Its not very fair when u say Monash havn't beaten a top four side since round 4....beat OH in round 6 when they were 2nd and have lost to Maz and Hampton once each, and were winning each of those matches at 1/2 and 3/4 time respectively. But definitely a tough run home. OH have an easier run but Monash only have to win one match to secure a finals spot.

Every remaining Monash game will be huge in terms of the finals makeup.
The best thing about this division is that it doesn't follow a script. Every top side has lost games that appeared almost un-loseable.

heard the beda boys are making a late charge

potent forward line with big stretch ravesi kicking his 2nd bag of 6 for the year leading the way

what are everyones thoughts? are they pretenders or contenders?
