I strain my gravy so it's pretty smooth, I use things to add "flavour" which I don't think she likes. Either way more gravy for me!

Does your missus enjoy the music of Paul Kelly , and does she have strong opinions about Christmas and the prison system?

Heating milk up in the microwave before putting it on your cereal.
So nostalgic, hadn't done it for ages.

We had a power failure the other morning - woke up to 5 degrees and no kettle, no heating. Quick dash to the bakery for the hot cheese and bacon rolls.

Yeah our heater shit itself last year in the middle of winter - as dumb as it sounds, it is amazing how cold the house is without the heater (of course its colder but didnt think it would be that cold - i presumed it wouldnt be too much of an issue but those cold winter nights were bloody freezing). Cost over $1000 to get it fixed, which annoyed me but was a must fix.

Australian houses have such shitty construction, I'm sitting at my desk in a hoodie and beanie because my study takes like 3pm to warm up from the sun at this time of year.

Yesterday I was browsing server racks because I thought if I am going to buy a heater it should at least have a GPU and 4TB hard drive

Cooking a good dinner and having leftovers for tonight so I don't need to cook. (Chinese sausage noodle dish with some different sauces)
Regularly make double dinners. Usually the same amount of effort and cooking (OK - may do some more cutting up of veggies). Same cooking time. Many things taste better the next day after 24 hrs resting in the fridge. Sometimes add mashed spuds, rice or noodles the following evening just to bulk it out.
I do the chicken pie, soups, slow-cooked beef ribs etc - wife does the lasagnas, moussaka, and we both do various versions of shepherd's pie.

Oh, and always make double risottos and make arancini with the leftovers.

Yep, our house is open plan, vents into a big open roof space, gets bloody freezing in winter. We don't build to our conditions like the Poms do... their homes are well built to their conditions.

Seeing someone (or indeed doing it yourself) have a real, genuine belly laugh about something. Like laughing until your face hurts. What I love about it is that all the complicated shit that goes on with our egos and superegos etc just get side-lined for those moments. If it is someone else, you can't help but feel good for them and put on a bit of a smile yourself. It's a great leveller - poor or rich, old or young - we all know the feeling.

Inspired by a game with the kids last night that got a little out of control in the best possible way.
