What are the odds that Kamala Harris takes over as President at some stage during the term? Is that possible?

I get a real evil vibe off that woman.

I suspect so. Biden unlikely to run in 2024. I expect he'd step down a bit before to let her run with an incumbency advantage and ward off any challenge from the progressive wing in the primary.

And Trump received the 3rd most votes in the history of U.S elections.

Let's face it, the fact these 2 candidates received the amount of votes they have is mind boggling.
Good on the American people for getting out there and voting, just shocked it was these 2 that inspired that!

the promotion of mail in made it alot easier.. many CBF voting on a work day, especially if they have to wait in line

On what grounds?

Via Wall Street Journal.

The Trump campaign filed a federal lawsuit Thursday alleging its poll watchers weren't permitted to observe vote counting in Philadelphia. The suit asks a judge to order that officials stop counting ballots if GOP poll watchers aren't present.

On what grounds?

He wants the votes (re)counted with his observers there. (the state Dems denied them access, but the courts have ruled they're allowed in).

What kind of whackjob electoral system doesn't allow observers in by default?

So nothing really.

This is all optics.

We're all going to be laughing about this a few years when Trump's military coup is well established and he is declared Emperor or the US has turned into a Gotham like dystopia and Trump is operating as some kind of super villain character operating out of Trump Tower. There are no other options.

Rudy trying to bring down the whole edifice of US democracy. Fair play to him, it takes balls.

I can't see Biden stepping down. He's been a career pollie for over 40 years and has finally (almost) reached the pinnacle. No way does he give that up. He won't run again in 2024, but nor will he leave early.

Nothing new. We've been laughing at the US for a very long time now.

they were allowed in, he wanted more than the maximum

I hasten to add, no-one’s kidding themselves the Dems are pure as the driven snow.

But when it comes to obstructionism and gaming the system, man oh man, the Republicans, since their takeover by the Tea Party lunatics, really take the cake.
It depends on the context.

Stand alone, absolutely they are not.

Compared to the cancer that is the Republican Party however, well that's a completely different matter.

I went through the same thing with BoJo/Corbyn. The UK certainly can't throw stones at the US.
Corbyn wasn't a bad candidate. He was just a little too Left to get enough votes. More comparable to Bernie Sanders than either Trump or Biden.

Bojo is Trump light.
