Re: Vale Gentleman Jim - Post your condolences in this thread

In an era where many people think being a "man" means glassing someone or king hitting them in the back of the head, Jim reminded us of the true meaning of the word.

He would push himself through all sorts of pain and adversity while always doing the right thing by others; give help to those that needed it.

Australia has lost a champion bloke who championed those values.

Sad news, but congratulations to Jim on a life well lived.

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim - Post your condolences in this thread

im not an AFL person. my interesst has only recently started. however, my admiration for this man in his public battle with cancer, his will to fight, his determination to hold his position with the melbourne club, was incerdible.

not just the AFL, but the whole world lost a supreme example of courage, humility, and the indominatable spirit of the human will.

RIP, jm stynes. true legend.:thumbsu:

He may be gone, but his memory will live on through his great deeds, both on and off the field. Such an inspirational man, gone far too soon.

RIP Jim Stynes

"The Irish Experiment" Jim Stynes and Sean White have both now passed within 9 months of each other.

Both taken far soon.

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim - Post your condolences in this thread

Big Jim you will forever be remembered as a great of our game and will live on through your beautiful family & The Melbourne FC, let alone the thousands of men women and children you have affected profoundly through the Reach foundation.

Rest well big fella you have earnt it!

Re: Gentleman Jim

I met Jim through Reach when I worked in Adolescent Residential Care. A humbler guy you'd never meet. My sympathies to his wife and family and Melbourne Football Club. He deserves a state funeral because he is a great Victorian. If you could see him with a room full of troubled kids you'd understand the response to his death. Good people like Jim don't deserve to die young. Good bye Jim. We will miss you so much.
Inspirational to every Aussie regardless of what team/sport you love

a fairy tale without its happy ending :(

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim

Life's a bitch. How the most indesructable footballer the game has known can be struck down this early is beyond comprehension.

RIP Jim

RIP Jim, a trailblazer and good man.
As someone who has gone through a similar experience, my thoughts are with his family. Never forget but stay strong.

Rarely do you shed a tear for a person you never knew. Today I shed quite a few. Deepest sympathy to his soul mate Sam and his beautiful children Matisse and Tiernan.

RIP Jim and know that you will never walk alone

"May the road rise up to meet your feet;
May the wind be always gentle at your back
and the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the welcome rains fall softly upon your fields
And, until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand"

Where do we start?
When the lights go out
When the Passion a flown
Where do we start?

What's left to say
When our toungs are tied
When the words that lied
Still lingers on

When your defences come down
I see you still shine like the sun
Brighter than everyone
Yeah you still shine like the sun
Your still the only one

When will we sing?
When will we laugh?
Will we have space
For second tries?
Is this the end?
Is this a close?

What's left behind
Are jaded lines

When your defences come down
I see you still shine like the sun
Brighter than everyone
Yeah you still shine like the sun
Your still the only one

Brighter than everyone
Yeah you still shine like the sun
Your still the only one
