Re: Vale Gentleman Jim

It is so sad when someone who has contributed so much to the community passes away. Heartfelt condolences to his family.

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim

Terribly sad news. Even though I knew it was coming, its still a shock and a damn shame that a man as good as Jim Stynes was taken so young.

My heart goes out to his family, rest in peace sir.

R.I.P Jim!! A very sad day for the footy world.

He put up an amazingly brave fight, his memory will live on as an inspiration to us all...

:( :( :(

Sadly inevitable, but still sad. Amazing he lasted this long, really, as early diagnosis was for him to be claimed much earlier. Basically cancer of the everywhere. He knew that, but it's just wonderful that he had those extra moments with his family.

Been to plenty of those Reach breakfasts and never regretted the early alarm. Some truly wonderful journeys began as a result of Jim. That's his legacy, that will last many lifetimes.

Also sparing a thought for the family of Sean Wight, and all those touched by what is a truly horrific disease.

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim

Horrible news. He gave hope to so many young people.

I was reading about how he believed that his illness really made him take stock of his life and appreciate this things that mattered most to him. He can rest in peace, knowing that he made such a huge difference to so many people.

RIP

These lyrics always seem appropriate in these moments. If you haven't heard the song go to youtube and put in Queen - No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young) - You may get teary :)

A hand above the water
An angel reaching for the sky
Is it raining in heaven -
Do you want us to cry?

And everywhere the broken-hearted
On every lonely avenue
No-one could reach them
No-one but you

One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flying too close to the sun
And life goes on -
Without you...

Another Tricky Situation
I get to drownin' in the Blues
And I find myself thinkin'
Well - what would you do?

Yes! - it was such an operation
Forever paying every due
Hell, you made a sensation
You found a way through

One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
We'll remember -
Forever...

And now the party must be over
I guess we'll never understand
The sense of your leaving
Was in the way it was planned...

So we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time
There's a face at the window
And i aint never, never saying goodbye...

One by one
Only the Good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
Cryin' for nothing
Cryin' for no-one
No-one but you

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim

RIP Jimmy. 45 is just way too early. Reunited with your old pal Sean Wight.

Just a true champion of the game - a true champion full stop. Especially what he did off the ground, right up until today. Even before the cancer don't think anyone could have had a bad word to say about him.

Condolences to his family and the Melbourne Football Club.

Re: Vale Gentleman Jim - Post your condolences in this thread

Thoughts go out to Sam and family. One of the greats, not just of footy but of humanity.

RIP Jimmy.
