Have been told Benson has an agreement to play a certain amount of games for St Mary's to make sure he qualifies for local finals. 3 for Geelong followed by 2 for St Mary's repeated through the year is supposedly the deal.

If this arrangement is true it probably wouldn’t sit well with other vfl listed players that are trying to get a gig each week and then you have a fellow team mate choosing what he does and when.

Even stranger is a vfl coach entertaining it

If he gets as much time on the ground as last game not much, he is a very tall and skinny kid, that you won't see his best until he fills out...hope i get a better look tomorrow.

I guess it gives us an insight to being SWells etc. Is there enough of glimpse ..foot skills speed mobility marking etc. Anyway keen to hear your thoughts

You'll have to take a couple out though for sub and 2x emergencies
Think (hope) it is just one hold back for melbourne game. So take 2 out of the VFL team. But given Ceglar is always a guess maybe it ends up being 3 out?

EDIT….In the end you might be right. If both 2E and Rohan have some doubt right up until the game they might hold two back (Tanner and Dempsey?) with Mitch staying as sub. It would be a real shame if they do that and then both end up ok - as Tanner would have missed 3 weeks not playing then. Makes me think that if they hold them both back there is a good chance of a late change and therefore Tanner will play. We will know more at 12pm…

I think the order is still Mitch as sub but if a late change they play Tanner…then if two late changes they might put Mitch in and have Dempsey sub (could go either way?)

I think Knevitt as the AFL hold over player, he at least got a limited run out last week.

Parfitt or Bruhn the sub, if we need midfield minutes late.
I see your point but I think they are looking for more versatility than just a pure inside midfielder as a sub. They can rotate others through the midfield so don’t need one as a sub. So a forward (Rohan, Henry, Dempsey, Simpson) will be sub more often than not and Mitch fits the versatility bill very well (in particular with just one ruckman).

So I reckon they still with Mitch. The will want Bruhn to play full game so will play VFL unless there is a change before the game and then he will leapfrog into team. Parf not emergency so will play VFL. Think Dempsey will be the hold over?

To be fair i know geelong tried to get benson to the vfl team last year and he said no so this could have been part of what was required to get him to commit this year-we dont really know.

There are 42 listed players I would imagine most players would be under a similar program so the club can get a real good look at as many as possible. There would only be a handful that get a lot more games and there would also be a few that already have a line put through them.

Hope Willis goes well given Mitch Owen - a gun - was very next cab off the rank. Although he may have been tied to the Saints - can't quite remember.

As expected. Held back Tanner Ollie and Mitch from vfl. Which means I am expecting one late change. Not sure whether 2E or Rohan? Tanner in and Mitch sub with Dempsey not playing either?
