That bloody Vic bias getting Dixon suspended!

Suspending Dixon is non-Vic bias. It's stopping Port from stuffing up their chances by selecting him. He's become a liability.

I don't usually get involved in this discussion, nor do I feel very strongly about it, but there may be a point if you're considering this weekends fixture.

How in the hell is Melbourne vs North Melbourne the prime time Saturday night game with GWS vs Sydney and Port vs Brisbane hidden earlier in the day behind a paywall?

Was a 90 point belting last time they met on a Saturday night.

Port Brisbane goes into Adelaide and Bris FTA. GWS SYD goes to Syd FTA. Ch 7 Malbun commentators don't have to get off their fat arses and travel anywhere and the North get to say they have Peimetime FTA game. The only people who get screwed are FTA in Perth.

How is that Vicbias? Honestly, that's why the whole thing is ridiculous because anything that sees a Victorian team get an advantage is Vicbias but any advantage the other teams get is silence. Umpiring is Vicbias unless it helps a non Vic side then its just incompetence, same with tribunal. Butters got a week but hey silence.

For NSW and ACT, all Swans and Giants game are televised live and free on channel 7 - though depending on the time/ other programs, it’s on 7mate rather than the main 7 channel

Not a lot wrong in what he said, we accept it in week 4 but can’t accept it in week 1 of the finals.
Seems pretty sound thinking based on what currently is in place.

Clubs don't deserve to give up home finals just because some don't understand it is and always will be a Vic based competition. Don't like it, feel free to leave and start your own league.

Sydney has umpteen supporters outside Sydney. They don’t get free to air. Only very cruel neutrals are interested in watching nmfc games. Ludicrous scheduling by Citizen Kane having them and Dees on prime time.

Well yeah that was one of the ideas he had. He also suggested a best of three Grand Final series as well. And no changes to the NGA bidding and accumulation of points.

It was pretty much a stream of consciousness rant and instead of taking a rational viewpoint, he showed his inherent GC bias. Unfortunate for someone who has such an important position at the franchise.

Remember that everything is about money isn’t it??

Simplistic view.
Extending the season and adding another 2 games for the grand final involves significant complexity. Ground availability, negotiation and significant recompense to the AFLPA are but two.

And as we saw with the draw in 2010, injuries and fatigue after game one can blown teams apart as well. It no longer becomes about home ground. Moreso the spectacle will inevitably dilute. And if we fix the MCG GF disadvantage, we need to address the significant pure advantage non Melb teams have when they don’t share their home grounds with multiple opposition teams. The knock on effect hasn’t been considered here.
