SA teams make up 1/9th of the comp so would be expected on average to win a flag every 9 years. In the approx 30 years they have won 3 so it's pretty much bang on.

What’s with Freo and West Coast copping pre 10:30am bounce downs? I honestly don’t understand why they can’t swap the games out to be later.
Whenever we host night games over here, we have our bounce down times as early as possible, why doesn’t it go the other way?
You can’t use TV ratings for both these cases. As it makes no sense. You either want to make the game easier to watch for the fans back home or you don’t.

1/14 from 91 to 96 - 6*1/14 =0.43
2/16 from 97 to 2010 - = 1.75
2/17 - 2011 - = 0.12
2/18 - 2012-2024 - = 1.44
SA should have won 3.7 flags. They've won 3
QLD should have won slightly less than SA - They've won 4
WA have won slightly over with 4.
NSW a bit under with 2.
It's been really even by state. I'd be expecting NSW and QLD to be the big overachievers over the next decade or two as the bias that really matters - that which makes your team better - is tilted very clearly in their direction.

Port and Adelaide use their H&A advantage to get their high H&A ladder finish and home finals.
Port and Adelaide have combined for 11 top 2 finishes in the 21st century - the 9 Melbourne teams have combined for 13.
But Port and Adelaide need to be able to win home finals before worrying about where the GF is played.
01, 02, 03, 05, 06, 08, 12, 17, 20, 21, 23, 24 - twelve seasons where they lost finals in Adelaide to travelling teams.
Not irrelevant. Just less relevant than the match that was played three weeks before the GF. I'm sure you could find reasons that could explain all results (like the Naitanui story of dealing with the death of his mother that was explained by a West Coast fan in this thread) but the main point of the post was to establish if there was a trend of reversed results in their most recent meeting played outside of Victoria between a Vic team and a non-Vic team that go on to play each other in the GF and it appears to happen more often than not from what I saw. Others are entitled to interpret the data the way they want to.
Just in case it wasn't clear, the reversal of results didn't occur in 2016 which is why I wrote in the original post that it has happened in 5 of the 6 Vic v non-Vic GFs we've seen over the last 10 years (the other 4 GFs were 2 Vic v Vic GFs, 1 non-Vic v non-Vic GF and West Coast bucking the trend in 2018 by less than a kick). So 5/6 is 83% for those who want a percentage of how often it happened in the last 10 years and to me that feels like a high enough percentage for legitimate discussion to be had about whether it's an advantage for Vic teams to play non-Vic teams in a GF at the MCG. Again, just my interpretation of the data. I know others will see it differently.
I guess I should have been more specific as you cannot assume people will read previous quoted posts to understand the context of statements made. The statement of 'it didn't happen in any other seasons' was in reference to the last 10 seasons when a Victorian team plays a non-Victorian team outside of Victoria on more than one occasion in the same season and they go on to face each other in the GF as well. It happened once in 2015 when the Hawks play West Coast three times throughout the season.

As I explained in my post, most grand finals won by non-vic teams have been won with their start up concessions.
Since we’ve had to rely on building a list without start up concessions there’s been 0 flags by Sa teams.

Got that top 2 spot off him being in the side. Definitely dont make it without him (hence 17 & 19). It's the only thing I bang on about when Richmond backers think they were so spectacular. Eagles had their measure with him in the side.
Honestly 2020, WC were slipping by then, age & injuries were mounting & noone cares about such a compromised year (thats not to Richmonds detriment, its just truth.)

Adelaide ended up top of the ladder 2005 and 2017 - way after they entered the comp. So the Crows have been good enough to be a genuine contender outside of their start up concession phase.
Same for Sydney, Port, Fremantle and WCE.

Problem for the SA teams, is they can't win finals at home...they have converted the 11 top 2 finishes into just 3 GF appearances.
But they complain about how hard they have it.
But you didn’t travel, cross time zones, have routine disrupted, slept in your own bed.
These things are not the same.

The Hawks play the same ground in Tassie every year, so you don't think that gives them an advantage playing there? You will notice how the AFL never sends Collingwood, or Carlton, or any Vic clubs to Tassie to play them, it's always the interstate clubs. I wonder why?

20,000 of the supporters at the MCG are MCC employees who get a free ticket.
The reason it's held in Vic every year is to pump up the Victorian economy and keep the Victorian government happy.
If they decided to rotate the final every year, the Victorian government would go bonkers.
You are trying to argue that a home ground advantage doesn't exist. You are also trying to say that it isn't a deliberate move by the AFL to send more non Vic teams down to Tassie to play Hawthorn. In the last 6 years 4 of the teams have been interstate, while the two Vic clubs were North, who have a Tassie connection and looking to grow their supporter base there, and the Bulldogs.
Surely the AFL would love the big 4 Vic clubs to go down there? No?

I double checked and it looks like they do pay. My bad.
I thought it was included in their membership price, but rather it's the guaranteed allocation to the MCC that has been the talking point.

The AFL don't send clubs there. Hawthorn get paid by the Tassie Govt to play games there and the AFL allows it, like they do with GWS and GC selling home games - and yes Hawthorn for some inexplicable reason don't want their 70,000+ crowd games at the MCG to be played in Tassie. Can't work it out myself. I also don't know why GC don't play their Qld derby in Darwin or GWS play Sydney in Canberra. It's all really hard to understand.
