Not a fan of SEN's Mark Fine, but he does say what he thinks!..

...last night after the game, he was generous in his view of us and our game....thought the 49pt loss was ok under the circumstances....said with our decimated team it should have been an absolute thrashing of bigger proportions, said he quite liked how we have been playing of late, and that Voss seems to be doing alright and we have a very talented list coming through....words pretty much to that effect anyway.

Could have been scathing, but he wasn't.

Logic probably won't come into it I reckon, they'll move him on at the end of the year. 5 years, poor win/loss record, doesn't really matter whose fault or if the alternatives are any better. That's business.

That's the problem, there are no alternatives out there, we won't talk Roos into coaching. Dumping Voss now defiantly sets us back a year, another 12 months we could continue to improve.

To be honest the talent available after GWS and GC take there cut people wanting to take lists like ours are becoming fewer by the day.

I spent some (largely wasted) time reading the preview thread on this game on the Collingwood board over the lead up days and they were setting the bar as 'anything less than a 100 point win is a loss' - so we kind of went better than they expected .... (ok reaching a bit)

isn't clarkson out of contract this year?
wasn't there rumours floating around that if the hawks don't win a flag he will be out of a job?
wonder whether he would consider moving north to the lions.... Plenty to like in our young list

This is actually a worthy option. making it happen is another story.

honest question.
is it becoming a fact that michael voss will not be coaching the lions next year?
i've got strong views on this, but with an administration this bad and so many non-competitive performances, i can't help but think this club requires a complete change. angus johnson and malcolm holmes are not the right people to lead this club off field.
we need to land three big positions - head coach, CEO, key forward. I think the perfect candidates are paul roos or alastair clarkson for the head coach, and buddy franklin for the key forward.
personally, I am concerned about this club's future with the current set up. there is no excuse for these performances with a lack of effort.

we are becoming irrelevant

we embarrassed the entire sport, teams like us don't get friday night slots, and when we do, we have to make it count, not only didn't we make it count, we pretty much turned every queenslander off

voss isn't at fault here.. he did the best with what we was given here, but he has to take the blame

He obviously didn't focus enough on our depth

If Clarkson was available and willing to coach the Lions, I'll definitely be okay with the move after the end of the year.

For the record, considering our injury toll and suspensions, I can only see another 7 wins for the year. It will be a line call for Voss.

Story I think from the Herald Sun saying Clarko was given big offers by Crows and Melbourne but knocked them back.

While the Hawks are going strong I can't see him leaving but he'd be in the top 3 coaches I would like at Brisbane.

Imo it would be a gutless move to get rid of Voss when he has been dealt such a shit deal, with fixture, injuries and suspensions etc.

NO-ONE could do better at the moment.

Fixture? we have the easiest draw in the afl, if we were good enough, we could have made the finals

I am fifty fifty on Vossy for next year. I am getting a bit sick of him being annoyed with the lack of effort, we are all annoyed, he is the coach, how is he fixing it? I really don't care about wins/losses I just want effort and it just isn't there. The younger guys seem to be trying harder than some of our Senior players. If this doesn't change then I am up for change. How we can have a team of guys jogging after their opponents in thd first quarter last night is just beyond me. It was the Pies and Friday night, our first in about four year. There was just minor milestone of Simon Blacks club record but they just didn't turn up, again, we are at round 10 after this happened in Round 1.

Watching the GWS/Carlton game at the moment and while the Giants don't have the skills their willingness to at least stay close, contest possession and run down the ball and their opponents seems in stark contrast to the Lions last night.
