2.3 isnt really a big haul from Fisher, especially seeing as Gibbs, a midfielder/HBF, got 3 F$%^ING GOALS!!!

Bowden was also trying to do the team thing and double back to help out Moore with Fev. If Carlton were as Fev-conscious as they usually are then Bowden would've been right. Unfortunately they realised Moore's too good for the whinger Fev, and so passed to others. Then, when all the other defenders tightened up to stop their own opponents, Fev got a couple of lucky/unstoppable ones to make himself look good and Moore look somewhat bad.

But a goal a half from the CHF isn't worthy of his opponent getting the W.O.G votes people are casting him.
As I've said before, it's like rent-a-crowd...Oxx says Bowden's no good, so others follow because it's the "in thing" to do.

yeah good onya on the rent a crowd line......

Its not just the fact that fisher kicked 2.3 and had an IMPACT, its also the fact he never NEVER runs off the backline without the ball as an act of selfless running, he only moves fwd when he has the ball. Im sorry but in todays game even one player not wanting to run and create an overlap without receiving the ball is one too many, all 6 have to be ready to run when its there turn. He just stays back and gets cheap kicks and then gives off cheap sideways kicks. Hes a cheat who looks stylish. time is up bookmark this line:

WE WILL BE A BETTER SIDE WITHOUT BOWDEN AND HIS LACK OF RUN

What would you prefer?

You clubs most experienced backman getting 32 touches while his opponent has 5 scoring shots on goal?

Or

Your clubs most experienced backman getting 15-18 touches while keeping his opponent to 1-2 scoring shots on goal?

Will be interested in the answer you give.

Well obviously to stop your man is the #1 priority as a backman...but a CHF should be getting 4 shots at goal at least per game...and its the good defense from JB that forced Fisher out wide and far so he missed some of those shots. Fev had 7 shots ffs...but Moore smashed him!!! So you cant judge a defenders performance solely on shots at goal.
Not that that matters in people judging Bowden...he's shit apparently...so no matter whether or not he plays a good game, he must be seen as shit

So the number 1 priority as a backman is to stop your opponent and a CHF should be getting 4 shots on goal per game. Fisher had 5 scoring shots, so using your own criteria Bowden failed.

Not only that but the 2 goals the Blues got in 2 minutes in the 3rd quarter to take the lead both involved Fisher, the first one when he took an uncontested mark just outside 50 and kicked to where Gibbs goaled and then 90 seconds later he is on the end of a Stevens handball 20m out directly in front for the goal that put them in front, but I gather neither of these things are Bowdens fault.

How about the play in the last quarter in fron of the coaches box when we were 5 points behind and Bowden had the chance to go out and follow Wiggins who had led out to the HFF in front of the coaches box, instead of going out to try and hold him up Bowden was caught in no mans land trying to get back to help out Moore and watched the ball sail over his head where Fev marked and put the Blues 11 points up. Guess that wasn't his fault either as he was displaying good defensive play.

See I'm not soley judging Bowden on Fishers shots on goal, I'm judging Bowden on his lack of accountablity to an opponent. Last week 39 touches 23 marks and his opponent kicked 1 goal IIRC, this week 32 touches & 7 marks mean nothing when his opponent is one of the main reasons they got back into the game.

One of the two goal assists Fisher had was unstoppable and the other i dont remember so cant defend it. And I like the fact you've just hang shit on Bowden's lack of accountability and his lack of forward running and setting up...but he directly set up at least 2 goals and was probably at the start of the chain for a fair few more.
And..because Fisher had 5 shots and I said you'd expect a CHF to have 4, I wrecked myself or whatever you said?
Fair enough...so what about Fev- he won the game for them with 2 last quarter goals, unstoppable i might add, so nothing against Moore, but Moore was our best according to most (myself included i think)... And Moore gave very little attack...a lot less than JB anyway.

Anyway, i cbf arguing anymore...i know you'll see that as a victory to you, but i'll bet Bowdens spot wont be under pressure next game, because TW realises his value to this young, inexperienced team. And now i've said that im sure anti-wallace ranting will begin.
But I can see we're going in the right direction n that wallace has guided us there, so hopefully he can guide us to a premiership.

Cue "delusion" and personal attacks...

I thought that Bowden was good yesterday. I would have given him votes but in one play in the last quarter, caused me to subtract all the votes I would have allotted him.

I think it was No.37 (?34?) for Carlton marked about 70 metres out from goal with Bowden trailing behind him. Instead of manning the mark and forcing him back to 75-80 metres from goal, Joel decided incomprehensibly to leave the guy alone and started running back to the square. The Carlton player could not believe his luck as no one was on the mark, and then waltzed towards the 50 metre line, without any pressure on him whatsoever, and proceeded to kick the ball to the goal square where Fev took an easy mark and converted. Game LOST! In this time Joel decided to start running back but was caught in no mans land. It would have looked a lot worse if the Carlton player had run in another 5 metres and kicked the goal himself.

I stood there in the crowd in utter disbelief. How could an AFL footballer make such a fundamental error, especially with his experience? Did he not have any faith in his teammates that, as he marked the Carlton player, someone else that was obviously free (no.37s opponent) would pick up his man? There in lies the tigers problem. They still do not play as a team. They do not block for their fellow player enough, they do not shepherd enough, they do not back up their fellow teammate enough, and they do not run hard enough or chase hard enough for the good of the team.
They have been playing like a group of selfish individuals for 28 years. We wonder why we haven't had success for that long and yet the answers are there in front of my very eyes in most games I attend.

They NEVER shepherd. If someone said the word they'd all look around for the sheep. Cam Cloke sprinted 30 metres or more to lay a shepherd at one point. Our blokes handball it to the guy next to them then watch him get tackled.

Yeah to often Tiger players handball or kick to a player that should not recieve the ball , is it cause the players and it seems the leaders call for the ball so the player probably rightfully gives it them cause they have called for it. Think N.Foley is first rate at calling for the ball and then running into trouble.

Moore was the tigers best from the weekend just too bad fev ended up kicking 4 great first half and was up against it in the last quater when they ran all over us

it worries me people thinking moore was the best considering his opponent got 4 goals. moore game is a bit overrated, thursfield kept fev to 2 last time, but didnt get the accolades. moore played well for the first half but fev got away, especially in the last quarter.

He had some quality supply, and from 62 Carlton Inside 50's.

The thing is, kicking goals is pretty much all Fevola does. And he's very, very good at it - at present there are none better at that singular role (even Franklin is asked to roam further up the ground on occasions).

The expectation for Fevola to move up the ground and take marks around the centre, apply forward pressure or go onto the ball is virtually non-existent. He generally has very few score assists (only 1 again on Saturday), as opposed to other forwards who can be involved in half a dozen assists for team-mates. Other key forwards like Brown, Pavlich, Richo, Riewoldt, Franklin and O'Keeffe tend to get beyond goal range more often and be creative further up the field, whereas Fevola is your classic strong lead and grab variety forward in the mould of Lloyd and Hall.

So to restrict Fevola to only four goals and six marks is a significant win, especially given the drive Moore provided from the turnovers he created from the many contests he had with Fevola.
