This is a sensitive area for some. With that in mind, I'm going to remind a few posters a few things:
  • personal attacks are against forum rules. From this point, any attacks that are directed at another poster will be treated with a warning, then infractions and threadbans if it continues.
  • the spread of misinformation is also against the rules. This is taken very seriously by moderation, and you will be asked to support your opinion from time to time. If you cannot satisfy this, you will be provided an opportunity to retract your post; if you do not, you will receive an infraction and a threadban on that basis.
This is a forum for adults, and I'd appreciate you all treating each other appropriately.

You just can't make this stuff up, about them trying to make this stuff up!

From Ukraine in Shock, there was this video yesterday:

Judging by the shots taken by the observation drone, the Russians are going to use chemical weapons. Unloading and digging of cylinders along the front line in the Kherson direction was noticed.
Update: these are sea mines. It has nothing to do with chemical weapons.

And now they clarified what seems to be the reality:
Yesterday, the media published a video of the Russians burying "sea mines" in the Kherson region. As it turned out, the invaders buried 24 tons of TNT in the form of sea mines for the ostentatious filming of the next film "the destruction of the Ukrainian ammunition depot with one shot from a tank."

Ironic for the orcs using music that sounds like it could come from Lord of the Rings

I think Ukraine's biggest issues will be retaking the larger centres which still have large UA populations. Smaller places were basically razed by RU and most people left. UA I think are trying to keep that moral high ground and avoid an excess of civilian casualties. When they hit larger centres, Russia is likely to go with the human shield tactics.
Yes, that is why I wonder how long it will take. I dream for Ukranians in general it can be over before early December but I think I am a bit too optimistic of what is possible for them.

Oh hell it does too. Well dunno if this was their score for their propaganda piece, or added by whoever nicked from them to share on TG, but it's definitely got that LOTR feel about it.

Due to the stories around that UA will be delaying conscription events (can't remember the wording, sorry), I asked my friend in central UA today if there was any change in the policy on army-age males prohibited from leaving the country. I was told that this policy has not changed.

My take on this is Kherson is pretty much under siege tactics. The Russians trapped there are not getting resupplied and not getting relief/rest from Russian soldiers taking over their positions. While on the other hand the Ukrainian soldiers on the front line will be getting supplied and rest.

In short, as time goes by the Ukrainian soldiers are going to remain strong while the Russian soldiers will be getting weaker and weaker. I'd imagine the winter months will accelerate this.

Hate to be negative nancy but Crimea will be messy in so many ways. More Russians there than any other ethnic group. This can easily turn into a blood bath of revenge killings and violence if both sides are not careful. That is the historical way of things sadly. The same can be said the further east of Ukraine go but Sevastapol is very much a Russian City and has always hosted the Russian Black Sea fleet and a garrison of soldiers. It has always been different from the rest of Ukraine.

This pommy thinks it maybe for trenches.

The discussion I saw was, some of the things he says are said the way a Ukrainian would say them, but that provincials from Southern rural areas if Russia talk the same way. But other things he says are not said the way a Ukrainian would say them, but are consistent with Southern Russia.

Hence, he is most likely from some village in Southern Russia.

Oh I have no idea about any of that lol. Just that the conversation seemed stilted and cold; presumably this is a loved one he is talking to but she seems more worried about him not saying anything to get in trouble than him about to die.

The gist seems to be: "Im glad I got you, We're surrounded". "Oh yeah, I heard you guys have to fight to the death, right?", "Yeah I wanted to say goodbye", "No no no!", "This is all bullshit I want to talk to you about whats really happening I don't care if they're listening" "Oh, no don't do that".

Perhaps I am misreading the flow, perhaps she's in shock and its not processing yet. Something about it sounds inauthentic. Perhaps I'm just overly cautious of the current world; but something about it seems off.

Absolute fukwits.
Could barely organise a chook raffle.
So many Conservatives in the West were so pro Russian in the initial takeover of the Ukraine.
What is becoming so apparent now is the level of corruption endemic in Russia.
Which begs the question. Why do so many Conservatives in the West appear to be so willing to turn a blind eye to corruption?

Ukrainian forces are nowhere near liberating the Crimea. Not sure what your point is?

You must move in strange circles or not live in Australia.
Most here think the obvious, that Russia should get the **** out of Ukraine.
Small pockets of muppets like youtuber fat fukwit calling himself Aussie Cossack, I would not count as representing anything but the braindead.

HIMARS would sort it out pretty soon wouldn’t they?
I am not a military person so barely take notice of the specifics of military units except when I played Sid Mier's Civilisation on the computer in mid 90's between uni semesters. My Chariots and inventing the Wheel went pretty well early on until some m-fukers found gunpowder before me.. Then I was ****ed....until I found battleships...

Lol. I know it was a few months ago (Feb/Mar 2022) but so many Conservatives were calling on Ukrainians to just surrender and for the US/NATO to not intervene.
How the hell can you not remember that?

I do not live in places like Serbia, France and Hungary. You must I take it. They were outnumbered and not taken seriously.
Nobody here was saying that. Same with most nations we consider Western.

I often had my battleships die attacking phalanxes. Stupid CIV 1 combat engine. Much better with CIV 2, you'd maybe cop a scratch while you destroyed the phalanx
