I am sure the people claiming Ukraine has THE anti-semitism problem are all over this:

Here’s some footage to go with it. Reminds me of the Spinal Tap movie when they are trying to find the stage.

So Russia wants to denazify Ukraine, but they also want to kill Jews. A lot of mixed messaging coming from the terrorists.

The guys doing the nazi salute 😉

I'm sure my liberal use of the word literal won't see you trying to defend it of course.

I'm not a fan of Nazis.. so I won't defend it.

That's said , I'm unsure if Nazi stuff should be banned in Australia but that's not really appropriate for the Ukraine thread

I don't know, Russia is as close as we've seen to Nazism for a long time, so it makes a bit of sense being here (and they keep calling everyone else Nazi)

As for banning it, I'm not sure if it makes people able to martyr themselves with it. I'd suggest it's more of a symptom of growing far right hatred in Western democracies rather than the actual problem.

The sad thing is, I don't even think showing some people the atrocities of Russia will stop them becoming more far right. They almost see it as a positive.

Two wars later I guess the Russian government can cosy up to militant islam groups like Hamas since it crushed its own ones in the caucuses. Nothing like an external 'enemy' though to distract them from the actual problems.

I think they are more focused on Syria and Africa

They have been meeting in Moscow.

"We are very attentive to this list and we will handle it carefully because we look at Russia as our closest friend," Marzouk was cited as saying.

Shouldn't be banned in Australia, justifies invasion in Ukraine.

Sounds about the sum of the argument put forward by the "but there are Nazis in Ukraine, what was dear Putin supposed to do" crowd.

On moto g(6) plus using BigFooty.com mobile app

We just had two Nazi cowards get away with attacking a group of people in the Grampians and then going “Heil Hitler” on the Courthouse steps - so we have an issue here for sure….
We should nuke Victoria out of existence before they nuke us

Russia is a big influential country. They meet up with Ibrahim Traoré too and many leaders . Not sure how much you can draw from these meetings.

Obviously the Israel situation is important but they are apparently sending a lot of troops to Syria and have been active in Africa of late.

Then again you could argue it's all interrelated

Chatting with a mate in Russia yesterday and he shows esentially their version of post office mugshots we might get for our passport. I say "oh it's for driver licence? Passport?"
He says "more likely it's for military ID"
I say "Blya"
He says "Exactly".

So from a siberian news source, I read that Russia has an annual day in remembrance of political prisoners and sufferers, based on the repressions of the Stalin regime. There are observances and gatherings for this cause.

But this time, there's an attempt to outlaw it.
Russia celebrated the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Repression. Hundreds of people in different regions paid tribute to those killed during the years of Stalin's terror. However, for the first time this year, the authorities did everything to prevent such actions, laying flowers and an event called “Return of Names.” By banning gatherings at memorial sites and setting up police cordons, officials are actually trying to introduce a ban on historical memory. [Real Siberia]

I also read that there is a hunger strike (well, a 1-day hunger protest) among many quite well-known political prisoners during the same day. I think Kara Murza was one such participant, but I lost the link.

Apparently 60 people were arrested so not really "no problem "

"

(AJ English)
At least 60 people have been arrested in Russia’s Dagestan region after an angry crowd stormed an airport to protest the arrival of passengers from Israel "

Antisemitism is hardly unique to Russia either

What's the source you read that on? I looked at the maps recently and see there was RF gain northside to the railway line about 2 days ago. The distance to encirclement depending on definition seems to have reduced from about 8.2km (at closest points) to about 7.2km
Any news on that source re Avdiivka yet, LewisHall ?

Will be interesting to see what punishment those 60 receive compared to those that had the temerity to hold blank pieces of paper up in public, or committed other crimes by saying they support peace or otherwise not showing support for the Special Military Operation.

What do you think Lewis? Will the punishment of those 60 exceed those still being held as political prisoners for what are really non-issues anywhere that is not a dictatorship?

And in the most predictable response of all time Russia blames Ukraine for the events in Daghestan (1200 kms away):

When all else fails blame Kyiv for a pogrom committed on Russian soil.

Putin obviously wants Russia to join the Iran/Hamas/Hezbollah alliance and become even more isolated internationally.

I think it was the Bild newspaper I'll try find it. Tbh I may have got miles and km mixed up if so my mistake.

However it seems to be heating up adiivka now. It'll be interesting to see how that battle plays out and the effect on the larger war.

I'm still shocked how many regular people are living in that city. Sounds like hell
