Some footage of the damage to HQ. Ukraine's Air Force have been trolling saying that it was the help of Russians within Crimea giving them information that led to the attack.

Oh and that person that is listed as missing in the attack. Rumours are floating around that it is none other than the Grand Poobah of the Black Sea Fleet itself, Admiral Viktor Sokolov. We can only hope.

More info on the HQ attack.

Seems that it was specifically targeted during a high level meeting, the information of which was fed to Ukrainian sources by disgruntled Russian officers. Turning on their own now!

Massive vacation territories on the south coast of Crimea in the hands of Mevedev, Putin and Bortnikov. Generally kept secret, but this employee scarpered to Ecuador and then set up this interview to expose the dachas.

Reported on the TV Rain (Dozhd) channel:

"The weather can be a serious obstacle during advance, but considering how we move forward, mostly without vehicles, I don’t think [the weather] will heavily influence the counteroffensive," he noted.

Intense rains in the fall can make movement with heavy equipment, particularly tanks, more difficult but, according to Tarnavskyi, Ukrainian troops move in small groups, mostly on foot.

The general also believes Ukraine’s biggest breakthrough within the counteroffensive is yet to come. “I think it will happen after Tokmak," Tarnavskyi said of the breakthrough. "At the moment they are relying on the depth of their defensive line there.”

As noted, the general is positive about the outcome of the counteroffensive, but admits that to achieve success, Ukrainian troops must at least advance to Tokmak. "Tokmak is the minimum goal," he noted. "The overall objective is to get to our state borders."

"Scouts of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed a Leopard tank transferred to Ukraine with an entirely German crew of Bundeswehr soldiers, the commander of the reconnaissance group told RIA Novosti" [RIA Novosti]

Yeah. That never happened.

There are a few kind of undercurrent reports of Ukrainian forces penetrating defences within Verbove. However, it could be that I am spotting reports of older events, where they did make inroads a couple of days back, but were eventually repelled.

Interesting if true

I cant understand why they just cant do that for most of the equipment?
Send it over and let it come as a surprise when the Russians have to deal with it on the frontline.

Why the need to announce everything first and give the Kremlin a chance to try and negate it?

I read or heard somewhere the the latest missiles were meant to be a threat to Russia, if they mobilise they get the big missiles.

But otherwise I agree. No idea why we don't find out when things start blowing up. Perhaps some sort of US laws ?

Yeah I think you've touched on one of the most insidious undercurrents going on here. I guess it's a kind of virtue signalling.

Nobody seems to care about supporting Ukraine, quite as much as they care to be seen as supporting Ukraine.

Earlier this morning I was running this cynical diatribe in my head, based on something I read : "Here Ukraine, have these resources. So did everybody see that I gave resources to Ukraine? Damn, nobody saw. Hey Ukraine, give them back. I'll give them to you again, but this time we'll wait until everyone's watching."

An interesting article on how Russia is losing the artillery war despite overwhelming superiority in firepower.

There has been a little more about our carboard Syspaq drones in the Ukraine. The first from SpewCorp

This article is an interview with the company
Apparently the company released a heavy-lift version that has a greater wingspan and carries six kilograms, the article doesn't say if the range increased.

Whether the supply of ATACAMS should be publicised or not I don't think it's going to be much of an issue.
The Russians don't seem to have anything that stops the Storm Shadow/Scalp missiles so I can't see what they would do to mitigate the ATACAMS apart from removing their supply dumps and headquarters outside the range of the missiles. This would be a risk in having to move all this equipment and lengthening their supply lines. Even if they do complete this even across the border the Ukrainians can then target them with drones and home grown missile systems.
The Ukrainians will now be able to target anything Russian in Ukraine with modern accurate missiles whether at shorter range himars etc ..midrange with Storm Shadow/Scalp and now long range with the ATACAMS.
It's another weapon that will add to Ukraine's arsenal and will be a major headache for Russia and it's ability to operate within Ukraine unmolested.
The drip feeding of this sort of technology to Ukraine is frustrating especially as the Ukrainians have already shown that they have used the Storm Shadow missiles only within Ukrainian territories and haven't targeted Russia itself (now matter how tempting).

Couple of rough results for Ukraine yesterday.
They pushed into Novoprokovivka (I'll never spell it right so I'm not even gonna try), and copped some damaging treatment from the RF.
A freight train loaded with armoured vehicles was hit by a rocket strike - some resources surely lost. [link]
RF also hit an prestige but fortunately empty hotel building in Odessa.
Strelkov reportedly got his arse kicked while in jail.
There were apparently Ukrainian strikes at Sevastopol (again), Tula and Bryansk region. Unsure what landed and what got shot down.

Ukraine claiming that the attack on the orc Black Sea HQ the other day not only killed the admiral, but 34 officers in total along with many injured.

Russia on the other hand claimed 1 person MIA.

Imagine standing in front of a huge building with a gaping big hole in it and trying to convince people that there was nobody there in the middle of the day. In a military building in the middle of a war.

They're really only providing "news" to the most gullible of people.

Must have been good intel to hit the meeting in the middle of the day (previously, attacks had been mostly night-time).

And now the Russians know the Ukrainians can hit anywhere, any time.

There are reports that disgruntled Russian officers helped targetting, which I definitely don't believe.

Would be tough for the surviving 2IC or 3IC for the Black Sea Fleet. Not really a promotion you'd want, just shuffing ships around the Black Sea hoping they don't get hit and not being able to hold meetings for fear of a missile hitting it.
"Maybe you should appoint the Pacific Fleet 2IC to this job, and I'll go East and scrub decks"

More significantly, the spokesperson hinted that the Russian Navy would have nowhere to go when the F-16s coming to Ukraine from the NATO coalition are armed with Harpoon air-launched anti-ship missiles.

Ihnat said: “There is news that Germany will also hand over sea surface drones and that other weapons will arrive, too. And best of all are our Neptune missiles, which perform quite effectively. And Harpoon-carrying F-16s appear, Russian ships will have nothing to do in the Black Sea.” Currently, the Harpoons are launched on Russian targets from the ground.

The equation is expected to be altered radically when ground-launched Harpoon missiles, with 70 miles range, are mounted aboard a tactical aircraft. Military experts have noted that the operational calculations of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet could be complicated because F-16s can serve as both targeting and delivery platforms for Harpoons.

On its part, China has also deployed several Russian-origin air defense systems, including the most advanced S-300 and S-400 air defense systems. Suppose the assertions made by the Ukrainian Air Force about Russian air defense’s inability to cope with the Western cruise missiles are factual, it may be an alarming development for Beijing.
