Well done guys. Best team all year :thumbsu:.

Really happy for Lake.

Yeah, I was gonna come across to your board and deliver the most gracious of thank yous for Lakey. :)

It's great that you guys can be so happy for the guy. Will always be a big part of the Doggies after he's finished football.

In honour, I will put more than a few drinks on the tab for the next Doggies fans I come across. Cheers;)

My 4 year olds first flag with The Hawks. Told him it won't be his last. Our neighbour in London just knocked why we we so loud at 5am and then saw Ethan in his top and just smiled and said well done. He is from Germany and has no idea what we are celebrating but today is happy day for everyone....we are the premiers.

I am so bloody happy! And so exhausted I almost need a nap. :)

It was a great game for a majority of the boys, and I was particularly impressed with Gunston, Lake, Birchall and Shiels. I wish I was in Melbourne so I could go to Glenferrie tomorrow and celebrate with the team and all the fans.

Well done hawks, few more wins and you will nearly be on essendons elite level of 16 premierships.

You're probably forgetting that 1991 was AFL.

So with 2008 makes 3.

Also Brisbane.
The Hawks have three 1991, 2008, 2013.

Edit. Hawthorn also won the last VFL Premiership in 1989. Do you remember that game?

Sorry guys, I didn't realise, wasn't having a dig. 91 was before my time, don't remember 89 obviously.

Well done today, I truly mean that, well deserved :thumbsu:

Brian Lake ... you absolute star -almost single-handedly won the game for us, his intercept marks were amazing!

Quoted for truth! Immense effort.

To Paul Roos, Gerard Healy and Mike Sheahan ... F$&K YOUS! .. WE ARE CHAMPIONS!

That's right. Relevance and football credentials exposed, and flushed further down the shitta. Why you guys continue to get a gig defies belief.

Puck You, you Crunts.

Just want to add some loving for Jordy Lewis on here. Stood up big time today!!

2013 Premiers, WOO HOO. Will wear my Hawks jumper through Vegas all day tomorrow, no matter how hot it gets!

What's to say? Players people thought were second tier stood up. we coped with 4 quarters of pressure and gave it back with interests. **** I love this club. Getting drunker, well done Hawks and much man-love to Gunston and Lake!

No probs mate/mame. Never meant to have a go at you. Enjoy the memories of the current Geelong dynasty (and it is not yet finished). But check out your 1951 and 1952 dynasty. I was lucky enough to see that team play in a regular season game (it was not a practice match or exhibition but a fair dinkum game for Premiership points) against Essendon at the Brisbane Exhibition ground in 1952. Geelong were the reigning premiers but were well beaten by Essendon with John Coleman kicking either 12 or 13 goals. I was not yet a teenager and remember very little of the game. All that I really remember is that everyone considered that Geelong were disadvantaged with the sardine can that was the Brisbane Exhibition Ground. Also massive criticism of John Coleman. Everybody expected him to kick all of his goals from standing on heads marks. Instead they were mostly from free kicks, leads and general play. Such is life.

Also have a look at the 1963 team. One of the best teams ever to run out in a grand final. That team included a fellow called Polly Farmer.

Ah, the club that won 6 flags prior to 1930, when the competition was little more than a social gathering, then due to a prolonged period of failure, shamed itself and the very game by drug cheating. And failed at that too. Then, after a grand display of hubris and much bluster about suing people if they dare question the club, quietly retreats, but not before renewing the disgraced figure of Jimmy Hird with a new contract.... Just brilliant. And to top off all of that, the club was tin-rattling to its members this week.

Elite level of scumbaggery and mediocrity, that's for sure. Now go away.

I was in tears, my daughter rushed into the "boys" room in tears, fantastic win and very deserved for an outstanding season.

Funnily enogh, we fly out to Perth tomorrow for holidays, wonder if the plane will mind our Hawks jumpers? :)

and How bloody good is this feeling????

Lap it up everyone, its good to be the king !!

And a special mention has to go out to Brendon Whitecross, my heart bleeds for you mate, your a champion guy on and of the ground, and be patient your time will come, take note of big Max Bailey who would have thought that after three reco's, that he be one day playing and winning a premiership medal:) :thumbsu:

I think it's more relief than anything this time around. We've been the best team in the comp for two years, we gifted Sydney the flag last year, and we were able to get home today despite being nowhere near our best. 22-3 is a record up there with the great teams.

The MCG returns to haunt the Dockers....once again. They seem to struggle at the MCG. Stats indicate this clearly.

Overall - 42 attempts: 12 wins, 30 losses.

Past 5 seasons (2009-2013) - 12 attempts: 3 wins, 9 losses.
Past 5 games - 6 attempts: 3 wins, 3 losses.

Today in the Grand Final, they clearly struggled with the occasion. It's all well and good to beat a tired Sydney Swans outfit (at Paterson's Stadium) who were injury ravaged towards the end of the season and had only won 2 games out of their last 7 games. But it's a different kettle of fish playing a top quality victorian team at the MCG. In season 2013 the Dockers played three times at the MCG - round 17 against Richmond and lost by 27 points, round 21 against Melbourne and won by 95 points and the Grand Final and lost 16 points against Hawthorn. I couldn't believe how much hype the media were giving Freo, it was like the Hawks did not exist. The best team in 2013 won - well done Hawks.

As for Freo, they will come out bigger and better next year knowing that have a Grand Final game under their belt and they will be better for the experience.
