Buggar!

The sun may be up, but I'm not feeling much better.
I woke up four times in the middle of the night, each time immediately forgetting that we had just lost the game. I had to relive the loss four times and subsequently could not sleep for the next hour. It was a very bad nights sleep.

I slept well - after staying up brooding on the loss until 1 30 am.

Unfortunately, I don't feel any better about the loss today than I did last night.

Opportunities to win a flag are very rare and the truth is we closed the door last night on what was a golden opportunity to set ourselves up with a real chance to win a flag.

One comparatively lazy undisciplined quarter of footy - the second - has undone so many good quarters that led to the now wasted opportunity.

Yes, where there's life, there's hope. But the real likelihood is that it won't be any more than that. :(

At the start of the week I said if we win against St. Kilda we are a great chance to win the flag. And if we win against St. Kilda I will not go to europe for the basketball championships. If we lose I am off.

Looks like the boys made the decision for me.

Very good decision Stiffy, I'd leave asap.

As for me, I backed the Saints before the game and used my winnings to get absolutely sloshed after it, in a vain attempt to knock myself out for three or so weeks.

It didn't work and instead I've got this Greenday song playing over and over and over and over....

All I can say is....I know how you feel  :(

That says it all

3goals 3 points at 1/4 time could have easily been 5-1 and welsh missed a gimme at the start of the second term after taking a good mark says only one thing

CHOKE

If Watts is staying and he is FIT he has to play this week nothing to lose.

Its too late to play Watts now, we should have played him part way through the year.

we saw this week from van berlo, what we can expect from a rookie. this would make no difference

Why? Our forward line wasn't the problem & will be better this week with the return of Bock allowing Hentschel to go forward.

I wouldn't say the door is closed, but we have gone from having a great opportunity to only having a smallish chance at the flag, given we have now given ourselves a more difficult route via a showdown, away game v Weagles & probably Saints or Swans at the MCG. I reckon whoever wins the showdown is a good chance to beat the Weagles, so all is not lost yet. Geez, I hope we redeem ourselves this WE!

I disagree.

Whoever wins the showdown will not beat the eagles at Subi. If they do then they are freaks.

This showdown is the BIGGEST game this state has ever hosted. Its a cut throat final. It will be a warzone. This will be the most draining game any player has ever experienced both physically and mentally. The players and the coaches of the winning team will be absolutely buggered.

They will be flat the following week (both physically and mentally) against an formidable Eagles outfit coming of a week's break and just about unbeatable at their home deck.

We beat the Eagles last time we played them but I doub they will drop 2 of their last 3 games on their home deck, in front of their very vocal home crowd.

IMHO, for the winner of the showdown the season ends at subi.

Stiffy, the Weagles aren't travelling the best at the moment. Whilst they would start favorites, I would give ourselves a good chance. However, 1 week at a time, as we have a huge challenge this week.

I agree. Whoever wins this week will go on to beat the Weagles.

Ok. If we lose this week and your team goes onto play the Eagles at Subi expect the sam result as last time. Don't complain either when Crows supporters flood your forum as you have flooded theirs. Like I said earlier, when I was on your forum giving you the cold hard truth all of my posts got deleted. So how about we wait three weeks to see if your team can do the impossible before you run your mouth all over this forum.

Well, I'm gutted.

I could make a number of observations, but the most obvious would be the fact that outside Goodwin and Edwards we had / have a very lacklustre second tier midfield who just weren't up to it when it counted. On the other hand, Dal Santo, Hayes and Harvey absolutely smashed us around the ground.

On the positives, our back half did well, Truck killed Gehrig, Hentschell did well on Riewoldt and Bassett beat Hamill. Sarge and Mcgregor were probably our best forwards, I thought both toiled manfully. Also thought that Goodwin was ok in midfield and Clarkey was our best ruckman. Some of his ruck work was text book stuff.

Also, full credit to the Saints back half, R Clarke, Voss, Gwilt and Fisher would not be the first choice back half for any team, but they battled hard and did well against the odds.

I love the use of the term 'flood', its very appropriate.
