I agree that the more desirable result is for Beams to be traded but your offer is simply not enough. Two first round picks might have got you around the young player requirement but you only had one lowish first rounder. We are not a 'make a wish' foundation desperately trying to reunite the 2 brothers in the same team to create sweet memories for dad.
Beams played this whole affair very badly. If you read the early pages of the Beams' thread on our board, you'll see that 90% of Collingwood BF posters were initially supportive of Beams. Brisbane's offer of pick 5 and 21 (but not 25) might have been begrudgingly accepted if Beams' father had seemed his sole reason for requesting a transfer. However the night out on the town with Shaw instead of attending the Copeland trophy was a slap in the face for the goodwill shown by the club and supporters. Brisbane was never going to get Beams cheaply after the revelations from that night.
The irony is fantastic.
Collingwood supporters cheering their club for threatening to hold on to a player who has ACTUALLY demanded to go home while seemingly implying that Brisbane are stupid for holding on to Aish who is only speculated at possibly going home..
Can't wait for Aish to re-sign.
Stick it up those arrogant Pies and Camry Crows supporters.
It is so refreshing seeing a respectful Collingwood poster. Thanks for postingGood post. Many Pies fans feel this way.
We've invested heavily in the draft recently, and traded for youth. Picks don't excite us, we're playing enough kids as it is. Hence our request.
LOL
All humour aside, this is probably going to happen. You can't blame us for trying to get more!
There might be further developments (ie: Griffen) that could alter the whole landscape, so you'd think this would drag on to Wednesday or Thursday.
Good post.
Perhaps it was to try and rush the deal through, as big name trades tend to last all week/s.
We made our offer, and listened to a single counter-offer (the addition of 25). We made another offer on deadline day, but the availability of Christensen scuppered the deal, then Geelong's refusal of 38 & 40 apparently halted it again.
This suggests we're close, I think a deal will be done eventually.
We were attempting to negotiate and softened our stance. 21 or 25 would have gone for Greenwood, leaving us pick 5 and one of 21/25/30 in the ND, with the other possibly going to Geelong for Varcoe.
I can't see us getting 23 from Melbourne for Lumumba due to the Trengove scenario, don't know what's going to happen there.
I agree, but I think you'll still get both.
Why so serious, victory is assured. Pop the corks boys and girls and open a welcome to Lions 2015 thread.
This one is in the bag, enjoy yourselves.
Ok I will bite ... What have you heard.....
A lot of us have become attached to you guys. We'd like to keep the thread open, even after you get Beams - perhaps to organise Beams related cross-team cultural discussion: what should Beamo put on his next sleeve? Bogan baby naming competitions. That kind of thing. Why are Pies fans still posting in there. They've called negotiations off. End of story. We will move on and look to the draft to continue to build our list.
Judging by his posts on the Pies board, he's being more than a little sarcastic.
Nah, I reckon it does - pretty sure Buckley posts on BF. I know I saw a "FIGJAM" running around at one point.
Picks 5 & 8 wouldn't secure Dangerfield, given Adelaide allegedly knocked back 2 & 3 for him.
Can't wait for North to reject Collingwood's pick 30 for Greenwood, before we troll everyone and lure Greenwood north in return for our pick 25 and a truckload of cash. Beams can wait until the 2015 PSD, once he has won the spoon.
Apparently it was on 3AW. Anyone confirm? They just did.
What have I missed?Gotta love the Scott brothers (except immediately after games).
In that case, we'd better bring Tairy in on negotiations.Apparently it was on 3AW. Anyone confirm?
The same report suggests North are keen on a menage a trois
How is a photo taken by someone of Beams and two friends, one believed to be Shaw (picture of the back of his head) having what seemed to be a quiet drink at a pub in Kew seen as a "night on the town"?????? perhaps you have just left a monastery. That pub is a very down to earth place. Beams didn't take the photo, someone he didn't know did it and sent it to the Herald Sun. I think what Pie supporters don't get that if you read through the posts here the majority of us Brisbane Lions suppporters are pretty philosophical about how things ended up. Would have been great if the trade went through but we didn't want to trade one of our young players, so it didn't happen. Move on and look forward to next year. Getting sick of Collimgwood supporters coming over and preaching their Gospel.
In that case, we'd better bring Tairy in on negotiations.
What about Beams for pick 12 next year.
+ 12 months of the media banging on with the Beams/Collingwood death watch.Any chance you could throw in 12 months of refusal to adhere to gameplan and training times?
