List Mgmt. We Got Him! Beams Trade Discussion (Not the Hype Thread)

The next chapter in this trade is for Collingwood to not get a decent pick for Harry O. They'll then have to work out how to get Greenwood given Kangaroos won't accept pick 30.
I'd be on the floor in hysterics if collingwood only get a 3rd rounder for the prince.

It was smooth sailing for Collingwood but now they've come across some rough waters.

This is seriously silly and pointless from a C'wood stand point.

Christensen wants to go home, cats are going to let him go. Patfull asks for a lifestyle change, you let him go. Pick 5 and 25 is a 'round about' deal for Beams and it should be taken, it is a horrible message the club is sending to an already destabilised playing group. I was talking to a pies mate, member for 10 years, and Beams is his fave player. He said "I don't want him to go and I am happy to play hardball, but if we don't do a deal we are going to look like dogs, it won't sit right with me watching him run out next year"

Pies need to take 5 and 25 and go to the draft, its a decent deal, not sure what the obsession with players like Aish is.. he isn't established??

Seriously have held my tongue all week on this, but it is just wrong by the pies considering the human element to this. 5 was under, 5 and 25 is about right, get it done.

I think the human element is irrelevant. Can you honestly tell me that Geelong would of been as accommodating to Christensen if he was under contract. Would you guys have so easily facilitated a trade to GWS if Rockliff wanted a change of lifestyle not Patfull who is 29 and not likely part of your next premiership tilt. At the end of the day all the clubs are trying to get what is best for them.

I fully accept your teams position that it would be really bad trade away any member of your young core who doesn't want to leave after what happened last year. But it is ours that losing Beams for only picks would set us back a lot and put us into complete rebuilding mode which the club is trying to avoid. Even if it means risking losing him for much less next year. Neither club is trying to screw the other over they just need different things from the trade, which is why I think it won't get done.

As for why we'd want Aish when he is only one year out of the draft he has had a year of playing footy at a high level and would be a lot less risky then either pick.

One player isn't complete rebuild mode though.

If we were to lose Rockliff for 5 and 25 it won't mean we should rebuild.

If one player is the be all and end all your club has more issues than it seems.

Not only is he the best caller in the game, but his non-bias when calling Geelong games makes me respect him so much more. Imagine having to commentate the 08 Grand Final loss or the Miracle on Grass as a Geelong fan, it would have been brutal.

"Huddo" is probably my favorite non-Lion commentator - one of the most un-biased commentators out there.

Seriously mate we don't care if we miss out on Beams so toddle off back to your board.
Your not getting a young gun and pick 5, your not even getting a young gun so it's pointless crapping on about it.
As for keeping Beams for 1 year against his will well good luck with that- he has already departed its just the supporters who are having trouble believing it.

except doubt they'll be getting a pick. Don't forget varcoe. Balme said today it will more than likely be a 3 way trade. With some picks thrown around. But they won't be significant for greenwood trade. If anything pies will owe.

Another caller to Trade Radio saying he would be happy with pick 25 and Jack!!! Of course you would, give Leppa a call and see what sort of reponse you get.

interesting.

Wallace and Barret on Trade Radio both just said they think that Griffen is a better player then beams (one of htem said significantly). Wallace noted that the age difference (3.5 years) makes Beams a more valuable commodity but Barrett almost disagreed with that.

I thikn Beams is both a better player and therefore clearly more valueable given his age.

Hilariously, the talk now amongst Pies fans is to shop him around to other clubs now instead of trying harder to trade with Brisbane, forgetting that Dayne has nominated Brisbane, other clubs haven't moved on him, he isn't interested in other clubs, and his position at Collingwood is now untenable.

My face.
