We made the finals… Changes VS Dockers

Doable if Keath is remotely fit.
I mean Keath got through a full VFL game on the weekend and had 23 touches. He's at least playing full match minutes so he has to be fit enough for that at least.

I still think we should roll the dice and bring Keath in for Bruce and allow Darcy to play forward. We always have the option of moving Darcy back (& say Cordy forward yuck) if we are needing some extra height temporarily during stages of the game.

Keath in Bruce out Mcomb out Cordy sub

I think Vandemeer will be right for the game with the extended break, so I would expect him to stay in (JJ or West the obvious replacement if he can't).

Although Bruce hasn't been at it, it just seems like he's bound to get back to it soon, right? We will see. I personally wouldn't want to see us bring in Schache or Martin instead of him. Khamis coming in so he and Darcy can switch around if needs be might be interesting, but I don't know if we would do it.

Interesting how different the teams could be from only a month before.

Will be very tough for us though. I haven't been particularly impressed with our performances over the last month (bar the Melbourne game). However, I just feel like have Freo, GWS and to a lesser extent the Hawks expose us with that chip mark game might help us. We will learn from those games and hopefully be stronger for it.

Schache is the most interesting one.

Selection integrity ? Well you can’t do anymore than why he has.

Last senior game - form was fine before week off due to Covid

Flexibility mantra - ticks this has played ruck, defender, wing and forward

Where are we getting form was fine from? 12 disposals @ 50% D/E with 1 goal when the game was over after missing a sitter when we were coming back agaisnt Sydney and 8 disposals @ 50% D/E 0 goals against Brisbane. His form was anything but fine the prior game against Hawthron was decent but when the heat went up he reverted back to his normal form.

You are not a Schache fan I wont bother

Many of our players had a shocker vs Sydney including Bev pets Hannan who got reamed on the back of a 10 possession game at VFL

Reid from Sydney their 4th ruck reamed English

So your argument is I'm not a Schache Fan, Irrelevant mention of Hannan who's not in the AFL team either and Tim English had a bad game?

Please enlighten me on how he was "decent" in the Sydney and Brisbane games? I am always open to discussion if you can bring up anything relevant

that was also a reason that it’s good to see Treloar in the centre square occasionally, if he gets on the end of a forward centre clearance the goals are within his kicking ability.

Agreed, the move to defence was just so weird. It highlights all his weaknesses and doesn’t cash in on his strengths.

Adzys just not that clean in traffic, not a great disposer of the footy and his defensive issues are glaring

What he can do better than most in our side though is run through the lines and finish. Use him fwd/mid.

It wasn't weird we had to try and cover the loss of Daniel's ball movement. Now he is back and Duryea is back he is back to his more suited Mid/Fwd. For me he needs to play more time at CBAs then Baz has as his kicking is much better and he knows how to use his burst better

Strangely I give us a better chance at Domain Stadium than if it was at Marvel. Bookies and most pundits won't see it that way, but our record at Marvel this year is modest at best, whereas we have a good recent record in Perth. Interstate finals holds no fear for us. In fact, interstate fixtures seem to bring the best out of us.

We'll win this 👍

Not only are we the only club who has won a final in every state. We have players in the team who have achieved this feat.

Hope you don't mind the edit. :)

He became persona non grata but there was a period there where Stringer was the most electrifying player in the league by a mile.

It gets lost a little because of Boyd’s goal and Picken’s sealer, but his goal late in the GF was a beauty. Quick snap with swans defenders hanging off him but amazing contact and sailed through. Think Buddy had just kicked one and game was in the balance.

Might go and watch the highlights now 😎

I went to the Sydney game. Schache had a crack and put his head in dangerous places. He was one of the 2-3 that appeared to be up for the fight. Getting a knock was extremely untimely. By the way, if Bruce was able to 10 possessions and a goal you would be talking up how great a ‘warrior’ he is, when it is clear that he has no right to be out there (currently).

Was West dropped or was he injured? I didn’t watch any replays of the GWS game, but at the ground it looked as though he played well
He's not injured and wanted to play. When my kids got his autograph during warm up I said "Hope you're a late in Riley" and he smirked and said "Yeah me too".

One of my kids then said "We saw your dad earlier" (as I pointed him out to the kids in the distance earlier). And poor Riley looked a bit panicked and I got the impression he was thinking oh no what did he say 😆

Based on Sunday's performances, there is no chance Roarke or Darcy can be dropped. I know there have been som head scratching decisions at selection but this would send a message that form does not matter at all and your place in the team is purely at the whims of coach. It would be demoralising

yep, that's what i said in my explanation under my team and i know he wont be dropped. Its doubtful we go deep into finals so i'm ok rolling with Darcy and some others for finals experience. But if we want the best chance of winning, imo, i think Darcy gets exposed down back on the big ground. And forward, he and Bruce don't fit into the same team. Darcy won't be put into the ruck, hence Bruce wins out. I'm not knocking him, he will be a gun, just not the right time.

So what changes do we make to our defence?

I was only want Dale and Richards as the "offensive" backman. Don't like Daniel there, sure he can drift there at times but he makes our defence worse.
We need to utilise one wing to help our defence in the back and middle of the ground. Williams, McNeil, Hannan etc rotation has been mostly useless.

Finals pressure will mean more chances to intercept mark. Keath and Cordy are probably our best key backs at this.

Not sure what happens but playing the same as we have all year and allowing teams to score so easily won't work.

Haha Domain Stadium, that's a blast from the past.
