P.S. can we get his beard into 2017 shape if not shaved off altogether, lol.

He plays best when he has his best Abe Lincoln beard/look.

Good luck to the big fella. Everyone at Port is sad to see him go and wishes him well. Great club man. Fantastic 2nd ruck and can stand up as a 1st ruck if needed through sheer grinding effort and second effort, and still gets a decent amount of the footy around the ground. Did that brilliantly for us while Ryder was out. Good 1:1 key defender, reads the play really well down back which much more often than not makes up for a little lack of pace. Slowish ungainly kicking action like an "arthritic baby giraffe"* but it gets the distance and he's no clanger kicker. Not a KPF unless you're exploiting a really unusual mis-match-up for a short time. Better on the set shot than a snap. He's leaving because the shorter/slighter KPDs we've settled on (Clurey, Jonas, Hombsch) are that little bit more mobile, and because we did try him up forward but it didn't seem to suit as a full time thing.

* I wish I'd written that but it's from a much better known Port poster than me.

My love for Jacko started before he played a game for us.

In November 2008, my grandmother, the rock of our family passed away.

Not too long after, My dad was at the Glanville, having a beer as he does. Jacko and the port boys were there having a few drinks as they do every off season, my mum came to pick my dad up, my mum as always is wearing a Port top.

A few boys got around her, gave her a pat on the back and she was smiling again, for first time in a long time.

Jacko personally went up to my mum, and chatted to her for Over an hour. He said to her "I've moved away from home, I love my mum. I have know idea what you are going through, but can't imagine anything worse right now"

He bought her and the old man a beer, made toast to my Nan. Since then I have had nothing but respect for the man, and my mum has nothing but praise and it's a story she'll tell to anyone who will listens.

There is no hard feeling from this Port supporter for Jacko leaving, the positive is I now have a new favourite Doggies player, sorry Bont!

Another interesting story about Jacko from his junior day I heard from someone at the club.

Jack watts had kicked 3 goals to half time, and damaging the team Jacko was playing for.

Jacko got moved onto him after half time with message to 'don't give him an inch, give him nothing, make sure he knows he's on you.. etc". JT went up to him and let him know alright, first contest that spilled to the boundary he grabbed him by the Guernsey and gave him the old jumper punches and tossed him over the fence.

Ports recruiting staff said - "that's the guy we want in a Port Guernsey."

Few players in the comp will fly the flag these days, but JT has always been one of the few.

Classy work from all the Port supporters giving their best wishes. Thanks for stopping by.
TBH, most of the credit is due to Jacko himself. Such a great bloke that no-one could begrudge him moving for a better opportunity for him and his family. I think our football department and management have underestimated and undervalued what he brings to the team as the heart and soul of the club and the impact it will have on the playing group. Our loss is your gain.

I've never made the effort to post on another clubs board before but if there ever was a time for it, it's now.

You've secured a real gem here and I hope you get to love him as much as we do over at Port.

Plenty of people have posted here so I'll keep it short.

Bulldogs are officially my second team now.

Good luck Jackson.

Classy posts from the Port supporters ITT.

If only all opposition supporters were as decent.

Its never easy seeing a favourite son lining up for the opposition. I'm sure we'll get around the big fella.

Looking forward to seeing Jackson in 2018. Sounds like the leadership dept just got a fair boost going forward.

It hurts to see Jackson go but to know he is going to a club with the kind of culture the Bulldogs have* makes it a little easier. Hopefully, this is one of hose moves that works out well for all. I know it will for you. You got a good one. He stuck by us when we needed it. I would say 'take care of him' but I know you will.

* for these purposes, I'm pretending Will Minson didn't exist.

Lol unfortunately Wilbur struggled with White Line Fever. Ripping bloke off the field, always had time for supporters.

Used any way he could to get into his opponent's head, and overstepped the line on a few occasions. Strange cat, but he had a cult following.

The fact that NOBODY can say a bad word about Jacko speaks volumes for the quality of the man. You've picked up an absolute diamond, and I'll follow his progress next year with great interest.

All the best to Jackson. Fantastic club man and bloke. Hope he has a great career at the doggies. He will be sorely missed around the club and by the supporters. Hope he's as good to you guys as he was to us. Thanks for all you did for PAFC.

Wow. Sounds like an amazing bloke. I honestly think that the dogs are not only going after him because he fills a need, but also because he's a terrific person who would be great to be in a team who has lost two veterans in the off season, and help bring the boys together after a couple of locker room differences.
