If I don't support Greg Clarke, I'm a freo supporter? Nobody is going to remember Greg. I don't see any talent or even passion from Greg on the field. At least witherden appears to have something invested in his performances, even if he is bordering on spud material also.

Not just bagging Clarke though, is it?

Look at you go on the main board!

Challenge the accuracy if you wish. The only talented youngsters appear to be last years draft picks.

Cheeser has shown nothing although clearly too early.

Petrucelle has got some talent although unless he gains some consistency, he's only ever going to be a bit-player.

There isn't much young talent. West coast really need to bottom out this year and next just to get an influx.

What accuracy?

Calling the youth trash, barely WAFL standard and wondering why we’re putting them on the field at all when we’re basically throwing whoever we’ve got fit enough to run out there is so pathetically stupid that there’s zero accuracy to argue against.

Doing it on the main board with a fresh account just gives you away altogether.

What do they call you on the purple board again?

With Clark I just think back to the game last year vs Carlton when he came on at 3/4 time as the sub.

Got thrown into the midfield Vs Cripps, and proceeded to be absolutely obliterated.

Cripps had 10+ disposals and a goal going head-to-head with him, and he had played 3/4 more of a game Vs Clark.

It's a feel good story, but Clark shows just how vast the gap can be between a good WAFL player and a good AFL player.
Clark has size and elite endurance and those type of players flourish at state level. Not all AFL level players go on to be great wafl players but I sorta feel like anyone with great endurance tend to really dominate at that level where there you get a lot of guys with poor tanks

I think this guy is a blight on our player development. He 100% got worse when he joined us. We got him to slim down when his running game was his weakness from day one. We then chucked him onto a wing which was never his spot in the AFL system. Why would you draft a guy and tell him his immense weakness is what you want to base his game on?

From day one, he should have been told to bulk up, work on his clearance work and enter the team as the defensive minded mid. He should be the guy getting the Reuben Ginbey tackle levels and role. Instead our coaching morons put him into a position he could never play and stood around like confused imbeciles when the guy you set up for failure, failed.

Clark is the guy id rookie list if we had a new coach but for now he will be the first delisted and he has every right to feel ropeable at the way we wasted his career

It's like you read the Ainsworth chat yesterday. Club continues to make the same mistakes over and over.

It's not just Simpson who is full of pride down at Lathlain...

Its just the complete disconnect between Simmo and recruitment staff

Simmo probably tells them "I want 2 wingers a CHB and a third tall" and then we draft Greg Clark in that mix along with Chesser and Simmos like "Well I guess Chesser and Clark can be the wingers" and then plugs square pegs into round holes because the recruitment staff just picked who they wanted and ignored the directive

Id be inclined to bring in a guy like Sumich to head recruitment, a guy who understands coaching too and can play a role in that side of the club too

The coaches don't believe he is good enough to play in the middle, they are not going to play him there for an extended period just to prove you wrong.

If the coaches don't think he is good enough to play in the middle... particularly in a team destroyed with injuries... why did he get recruited as an inside mid? I know that coaches and recruiters hold separate jobs... but surely they talk to each other.

On a side note... Clark's wikipedia page is quite funny: Greg Clark (Australian footballer) - Wikipedia

lol, cept they need to clean up the bit where he took up AFL at 28 years of age....he is only 25 now

He was worth a try, it hasn’t worked, but it was a very late pick and if we had better availability he would have been a great leader of the WAFL side. Maybe he should be tried as a tagger instead of XON but this is just deck chair shuffling.

You mean those same coaches who play a small outside winger in Gaff in the middle constantly, while bigger stronger inside mids are played outside on a wing?

The same coaches that took a KPF in Brander and slimmed him down & put him on a wing? They also did the same with Ainsworth, taking him from an inside ball winning player to an outside player when he had terrible kicking skills.

The same coaches who take an inside mid like O’Neill, West, Winder etc and play them at half forward and then wonder why they struggle having never played there before?

Oh yeah they’re geniuses those guys.

Are we missing something here? I 100% agree with you and i say the same things, but surely the frikn experts who get paid to make the decisions know more than we do right? It seems like a no brainer to NOT play skinny Gaff in the middle, but nope, in you go, China! Clark, who played all his footy in the middle can have your spot on the wing, Gaffy.

Yet these same coaches think Gaff is good enough to play as an inside mid :drunk:

Fun facts

Greg Clark has now had the longest ever wait for his first WCE win - 16 losses and counting.

The most WCE games without a win by a non-current player is Greg Harding with 9 losses.

They’re the only two Greg’s we’ve ever had. So West Coast Eagles named Greg are currently 0 wins from 25 games.
