Fantastic - well done to both for grabbing the opportunity presented to them.

Gibbons' story is well documented, having shown his class at VFL level for a number of years now. Whilst I have my doubts about him transitioning successfully to the highest level, he'll certainly be given an opportunity, and it is very hard to argue he doesn't deserve it.

I have a feeling we may see him in the senior side come round 1 against the Tigers, and whilst I'm not sure how much senior action he'll see in 2019, at the very least he's going to be a wonderful addition to the Northern Blues.

Cottrell I know next to nothing about, but from all reports has applied himself to the task, so deserves a crack. I love that he's an endurance beast with good skills, both traits which should hold him in good stead for 2019 and possibly beyond.

Just thrilled that both guys have really applied themselves over the past few months and have earned this opportunity. The hard work steps up a gear now but they've already shown they'll give everything they've got.

I love it. Both guys given an opportunity of a lifetime, and they more than made the most of it. Makes it all the more pathetic when the likes of Boekhurst, who was given an opportunity to save his spot couldn't be ****ed doing anything close to what these 2 guys have done and got the boot.
I'm really happy for both of them and i'm extremely excited to see Gibbons come round 1 in the senior team (surely he gets a spot in the best 22?)

Gibbons is Kane Lambert all over again only this time we have him

Well done to both lads!

And well done to the Carlton media team too. How good have they been in the offseason? As a fan, it’s the most engaged the club has ever made me feel. They’ve been absolutely awesome.
No doubt about that..The club has grown in so many ways from the day the rebuild was announced..the journey is all inclusive and all encompassing....Got to be proud to be Navy Blue. Wasn't so sure I could say that ever again at times until the last couple of years.

Gibbons is certainly too good for VFL and deserves a spot and its good to see carlton give him that chance, As another poster mentioned about Lambert
Hope he is good for the blues and takes his chance and cements a spot.

Best part about players like Gibbons / Lambert / Kelly etc is they will certainly be giving it everything and the younger kids that have had an easier path will have to work their backsides off to get ahead of these players as the spots are not going to be guaranteed to them just due to natural talent.

Congrats to both boys

From all reports has been training exceptionally well, so will give himself every chance.

He’s not in my best side to face the Tigers at this stage but I’m not the one he has to impress.
