His ability to consistently get front position on his defender and force them to infringe several times a game is something you don't see from 18 year olds. Takes most of them years to stop being blocked and out positioned.

And how good is his ability to keep his feet after a contest? He and Chol can both fly and crash packs and recover to make second efforts.

Will take time but he has star potential.

I don't feel like the stats do his game justice. This is a skinny 18 year old that is crashing packs hard, halving contests, and chasing the opposition at every opportunity. He doesn't get a stat for the 2v1 early on the wing. Doesn't get a stat for crashing the pack in the third, then following up with three efforts to tackle (only "successful" tackles are registered as a stat). Doesn't get a stat for hounding two Adelaide defenders and forcing them wide when they were looking to go into the corridor.

He's also clunking one or two quality contested marks a game, and drawing free kicks on the lead. The finish lacks polish but it will come.

It's a taxing game style and he only had 54% TOG. With one or two preseasons to build his tank and add some strength he'll be a juggernaut.

His repeat chasing efforts are something to behold as well. Not fake chases players do. Real repeats.

This is why he will stay in because he does the hard stuff. Sadly rising stars are not built on this stuff

What's wrong with a cute name like Bambi, too woke? 🤣
How about 'Not Tonight'?

The missus would remember the name. Probably become her favourite player.

He’s got the intangibles that you can’t teach - reads the flight of the ball well, sticky hands and a competitive beast. His growth will come as his body matures and from nailing down a set shot routine. Currently looks a bit nervous when lining up for goal but that’s to be expected for a player his age. This will come with more practice and experience. Really think he could be an A grade CHF.

Honestly, watching Gold Coast I don't reckon there's a huge difference in quality between Dear and Jed Walter to date - the main one being that Walter is much more physically ready for the demands of AFL footy. Point in Dear's favour, if anything.

Correct. Walter is already fully developed. Calsher not.

Do we have a Goal kicking Coach to work with Dear?

As last week against Brisbane the commentators I think it was Derm said he was dropping the ball on the side of his foot.

Derm says a lot of things, a decent amount are best left ignored these days

Think it was in the last, but was interesting to see Gunston ball in hand half forward ignoring Calsher inside 50m one on one. Obviously didn't back him in to win that contest even though it was by far our best option.

Yup, said something similar a while back.
Dear will develop quickly going by his dad's physique, so he has all that upside to tap into.

Also, Scaife doesn't look too far behind Walter either.
We've got two potentially elite KPF on our hands.
