Toast Welcome to the Club Aaron Naughty Naughton

Melbourne just handed over two first round picks and an $800k per annum contract for a player that Naughton could realistically replicate in a couple of years.

He'll end up being better than any other key position player taken in this draft, and the most adaptable should there be a shift away from multiple KPFs.

Trengove, Adams and Cordy give us a good KPD core for the next few years, with Naughton and Young hopefully able to slot in thereafter. Collins can take his time as depth.
This. We were into Lever big time so I see this as filling that Lever need. I don’t like his kicking action at all and am bloody sick of seeing Bulldogs players looking like ******s when they kick (see Smith) but the fact is he makes good decisions and he hits targets. His ability to compete, position himself, mark and run look to be elite traits so I’m now onboard.
Just need Schache to show something next year and we will be a massive threat in 2018

I never saw an issue with this. To those who were claiming we have plenty of defenders, more of them have question marks than those who don't. Morris is 35, Collins has played 1 game in 2 years, Roberts looks completely out of favor, Adams' feet keep breaking and while Lewis Young looks promising, he has a lot of work to do, particularly on his kicking and decision making.

My biggest worry is the WA factor. We already lost Hamling to this and nearly lost Adams; there's always something dodgy about taking taking WA kids. That being said, even if he did go, Lever got Adelaide 2 first rounders, so if he fulfills his potential we'd at least get a good return.

There’s going to be at least one tall squeezed out now but it will probably be a couple, which is definitely something new for the bulldogs. I’m not sure it makes a lot of sense unless I’m completely wrong on the likes of Cordy and Young.

Roberts has become ridiculously underrated on here, yes he didn’t have a great year in the Afl but looked a class above the vfl when I saw him play there. He’s only 24, played 18 games in a premiership year and played very well in both his finals.

I don’t know his whole story but has lived in Victoria. That would have been considered.

I think it's pretty obvious we saw smaller quick as our main need, yet we still went with Naughton so shows how highly we rate him. He's really growing on me.
I like the aggression of both of our first two picks, they're rough without crossing that line.

I am looking forward to seeing them bring that intensity with them to training sessions.

So I've heard he apparently had told clubs not to pick him as he wanted to get to Collingwood? Interesting..... says a lot about his character. Nonetheless, he looks the best defender and Kieran Collins hasn't come along.
Peddle your crap elsewhere troll.

You read one Richmond supporter say this without looking at the article he was quoted in.

It seems he was asked whether he’d like to stay in freo at peel where he was already playing or go to his favourite club.

I’ll give you a tip: most of the kids who say they’d happily go anywhere are lying

Absolutely no chance a 17 year old kid entering the draft tells prospective AFL suitors not to pick him. Absolutely no chance.

Dont doubt the players will be successful just see a need to be filled and its hard to see currently that we will fill said needs this season. Long term im sure all will work out just fine
Out of curiosity who would you have chosen with our picks given the 8 mids that were selected before us?

Welcome aboard there's plenty of room on the wagon although seat 1A (me) & 1B (Leviticus) are taken......

West Coke took Brander with their first round draft pick (#13). They would have been spewing we took Naughton.

richards im fine with although in an ideal world we get a permanent mid rather than someone who might be a mid. Hopefully he steps up to fill bob and boydy some day

Ability to accelerate out of a stoppage is great, but more important is probably speed on the outside, like GWS has - a tonne of guys who can carry the ball in space and really rip you a new one with speed and good kicking. With the numbers around the ball these days, I dont think your speedy ball carriers necessarily have to be mids, although nice to have. Half forwards and half backs also spend a lot of time running between the arcs and loitering around stoppages.

Consider if we move Dale and JJ to the wings, slip Richards onto a flank... We are starting to look a lot quicker and more precise on the outside.

How come Leviticus didn't get a window seat?

Who in their right mind would think 1B was a good seat?
Surely you know about bandwagons GM?
There aren't any windows. It's an open top wagon so the crowds can see your scarves, streamers and trumpets as you roll on past.
(1B's not a bad seat actually, just in case some troll throws a few tomatoes as you go past ... True Dog provides some cover in 1A and gets hit first.)

The club preferred to play a 17yo draftee to him last year - as fans we can only follow their lead. We all love Sid, but chances of him getting a game if Naughton is as ready to play as they say, and Trengove stay fit, are zero this year.

Im trying to get my head around a backline, perhaps in the 2nd half of the year, with Trengove marshalling at FB and Naughton at CHB, and an abundance of 3rd talls and small running defenders to round them out.

Only knock I had for naughton was his kicking
Dogs can fix that quickly, Him clay and dunkley all have unique kicks but somehow work

Feel like one day he will kick 10 goals in a game

Also he was born in Melbourne and spent 9 years here, a lot of family here
