Eagles are pencilled into the GF now, although it's anyone's game on GF day, fantastic tonight though, can't speak highly enough of them.

When I watched the Eagles recently beat the Swans in Perth by 10 goals, i was convinced that they were the real deal.Eagles are pencilled into the GF now, although it's anyone's game on GF day, fantastic tonight though, can't speak highly enough of them.
Only beat one team above us on the ladderFlat track bullies.
Haven't been anyone yet.
Surely you jest. They were playing Carlton...

nope
Cousins has a better future.
You must've missed Round 1, real deals don't lose to the Bulldogs.
Thankyou captain hindsight.He wasn't jesting
Yes
How you feeling now? Least you'll get to beat up on my mob or the Doggies next week
It would appear not
Yes they do
Fun times. I never wanted to believe it (living over here 2005/2006 were terrible years for me!) But as the year has gone on, they have been sensational! Kudos to the OP and kudos for the other posters for their opinion. I'm just poking fun, we all get a lot wrong when it comes to footy. that's what makes it so fun!
Shocked to see this thread. West Coast were rubbish.
I'll be amazed if they aren't bottom 5.
The call in the thread was probably premature, but I love this comment. 2 of those teams will be in prelims, with both possibly also making the GF. Pretty accurate call early; Hawthorn isn't an amazing guess, but a good call on the other 3 to do well this year.West Coast Vs Western Bulldogs for the preliminary Final and the winner faces either Adelaide or hawthorn

All I know is that no matter what I tip, I'll get the tip wrong. Richmond and North Melbourne exist to deprive me of free whoppers.

Absolutely awesome performance today, people saying their midfield is rubbish clearly know nothing about footy. Priddis, Gaff, Shuey are great players in and under, sure their kicking isn't great but the likes of Hurn and Yeo off half back more than make up for this.
Kennedy is one of the best big forwards in the game and Le Cras' output is phenomenal for a player of his size. Not to mention Darling.
Naitanui is a real X factor and every club would love to have him in their lineup, just a freak.
Unfortunately McKenzie and Brown out for the year is a huge blow and might just stop them from taking the next step. The future is bright and I think they're a lock for top 6, possible top 4.
Discuss.
They don't have a backline and they lost to the Dogs last week. They'll be a competitive side but I suspect it will be a long season for their supporters.

In Priddis we trust.
Flat track bullies last year, same again this year. I'm more than a little embarrassed this thread was started by a Freo supporter. Were only 2 derby wins behind the Slime ATM, this is the year we square the ledger.
Rebuilding through 2007-2010, the same period Melbourne was. And we completely duffed our picks and had to start again. So they did better than us. But the problem is there's no stars there. And if you add in the good 2nd round/priority selections - Darling, Selwood and Shuey it's an even better list of capable players, but it still lacks stars. McKenzie is the true elite player of his position and was in those drafts as well.
Much like Geelong's youngsters looking really good a few years ago but looking ordinary now I think a lot of those Eagles guys had their reputations enhanced playing with the burst of end of career form that Cox, Glass, Embley, Kerr put on as well as the more consistent output of Kennedy, Hurn, Le Cras, Priddis.
That list: Darling, McKenzie, Nic Nat, Masten, Gaff, Shuey, Selwood, Sheppard are meant to be the now establishing core of a consistent top 8 team that was rebuilt in time to get some wins ahead of the GWS/Gold Coast powers and so on.
Instead as it is 3 are injured (Darling, McKenzie, Selwood), Nic Nat is probably still getting back to his best and unfortunately it looks like Masten, Gaff and Shuey have found a level for now that just isn't at A grade.
The question becomes for Adam Simpson where do you go from here? How many older guys do you persist with in the aim to win games. Or how many kids do you throw in knowing that the prime players you have when fully fit are actually pretty decent but you're still lacking A graders as well as depth.
I think Freo made a very early call to rebuild and stick to a draft only philosophy and whilst there were misses it brought Fyfe and Hill and from there Ross had enough talent to work with. Or to put it differently Freo had enough talent to draw Ross Lyon to them.
West Coast are at a very interesting list management junction. With a 2nd year coach without a lot of rope.
Forgive, yes sorry, I have no idea. Sounds like all is fine at wce for the midfield. Should be back up and running in no time by the sounds of it.
Saints don't have the fwd or def talent like wce and they're 4-5 years behind your rebuild
They should have seen the issues in replacing priddis and drafted/traded accordingly. Instead they drafted outside flashy types. Finally bit the bullet last year but it was too late. Should have been done latest 2013 trade week
Now they risk losing the talls before their midfield gets sorted
Yeo is a backman IMO. Won't make it as a mid. Sheed is too slow and not the bull that wins clearance after clearance. Dugan and waterman while off. Nelson is not an inside midfielder. Outside at best. Suite more to HBF IMO. Dugan the best prospect.
Anyways time will tell
Tick tick..................chances are the Eagles lack of big finals experience will be against them next week. Could well be 1991 all over again but as they say your have to lose one to win one. At the end of the day no one tipped the Eagles to make the GF.
all I know is the money I put on West Coast 10th or lower (@ $2.50) is looking sweet
He was right though; it has been a long season. 25 weeks and counting.Fromm an Essendon supporter!!!!
To think people laughed when I made this thread?
As Ezra Pound said;
