I think this game demonstrates why the week off its a bad idea. It makes the better teams stronger and ruins any real chance of an upset imho.
Lol what about WB campaign only 3 seasons ago? They went bang, bang, bang & bang in upsets!

Or they bend the rules to suit them. Star players like Nic Nat get a much more lenient punishments than Joe blow. It took how many incidents of Gary Ablett to finally get suspended for the same action?
Very true. Can’t see him going out for a final for it though, since Barry hall got off! Not as bad as his one

It works on outcomes.
Merrett sustained no injury, surely there can be no suspension in the circumstances.
Page 9 has this:
Firstly, consideration will be given to the extent of force and in particular, any injury sustained by the Player who was offended against.
Secondly, strong consideration will be given to the potential to cause injury, particularly in the following cases:
»»Intentional head-high strikes, such as those with a swinging clenched fist, raised forearm or elbow;
»»High bumps, particularly with significant head contact and/or Player momentum;
»»Any head-high contact with a Player who has his head over the ball, particularly when contact is made from an opponent approaching from a front-on position;
»»Forceful round arm swings that make head-high contact to a Player in a marking contest, ruck contest or when tackling;
»»Spear tackles; and»
»Driving an opponent into the ground when his arms are pinned.
It looks at both the force and injury.

You said it “The Media”
I personally don’t know any Essendon fan that had us top 4 at the start of the season. Where we finished is about what most predicted and most fans know how far away we are from being a good side
Not disagreeing with you. They do it every season too which must get frustrating when (no offence) there's really nothing to suggest most years that you will suddenly challenge for top four. Means you end up having to cop the rubbish media barrage because the club isn't meeting expectations that the media themselves set.

Thou shalt do just enough
Thou shalt not put to the sword
Thou mayest double opponent (but no more)

Tonight was great. Beating Essendon in a final is a childhood dream now come true. Can tick that one off the bucket list. Some sublime skills out there tonight when the lead was there to be made.

Brave effort by the Bombres. At least their fans can leave the finals knowing their team gave it their very best :drunk:

At least we were in the finals....

I've always wanted to play in a prelim from outside the top 4. Hopefully we tick that item off the bucket list next week. :)
