One thing I'll say.. is that after a game like that where a team applies zero pressure and it is a training run.. it can be bad preparation for the Geelong/Collingwood game, cause they sure as hell will apply a lot more pressure than Essendon did.

The Coasters will have had essentially 3 weeks off by the time they play some decent opposition. Could be in cruise mode and get rolled in the first quarter if they aren't switched on.
The Eagles are a better team this year, They are a top 2 team, all their players back, they could of won by 100 tonight if they wanted to. Neither Geelong or Collingwood will win next week against the eagles.

Collingwood and Geelong will be coming off a slog in the wet.

Yes.
I’d cut the list quite deep.
Trade out guys like Hurley now why they still have some value and hit the next few drafts hard. This list isn’t close to winning a flag
Trade Hurley? One of your best players and best KPD?
Who would you have left to anchor your defense? Hooker and Ambrose showed tonight that they aren't up to it.

He has decent trade value still and he won’t be around for our next flag (yes no one on the list currently will be lol)
Hooker, Heppell, Zaharakis also should be moved on. Take what picks we can and head to the draft for a 4-5 year rebuild.
Francis and Zerk-Thatcher will hopefully anchor our defence in the coming years

Didn't you say playing naitanui earlier in the thread was a bad idea? How did he go tonight?

Actually think Essendon can improve next season. Should keep Worsfold but need to get Daniher right, or trade. Major change should be put off for 12 months.

Noticed McKernan, Stringer, Hooker and Tippa did nothing tonight. I guess that is Essendon's big problem right there. All 4 of these guys are the same. They are all X Factor types where if they are on, they destroy the opposition.. but if they are off, we get something like we saw tonight. I saw McKernan once and I watched the whole game. Saw Tippa a bit.. he tried but looked out of sorts. Hooker another barely sighted, and Stringer.. everytime I saw him, he had a kick smothered, kicked it out of bounds or didnt bother going for the ball.
For the life of me Essendon did the right thing 2 years ago and Delisted him. SHould of picked up anyone and started again. He was done as a footballer at age 25

My hope is that Caracella can have the same influence like he did at Richmond

It was night and day stuff. Constipated ball movement - horrible to watch - into something most other sides still struggle to counter.

But I think the list is not in bad shape at all for the short term. There is just something missing that prevents Essendon from becoming a consistent unit. Maybe leadership.

Yeah, nah. Hawthorn showed two weeks ago that if you put decent defensive pressure on the Eagles they can't hack it, and Geelong and Collingwood are the two best defensive teams in the competition. That game tonight was the finals equivalent of playing the GCS in the H&A season. It was nice for the WCE fans, but didn't prove anything.

As much as I hate Essendon, I also know that grim feeling of creeping into the eight and getting predictably smashed first up interstate only too well.
