What’s up with Cripps?

Oh bollocks. Cripps does not have the authority or knowledge of sports science to make these calls.

The club (driven by Russell) would have told him this was the best move for him
I believe this to be true. After seeing comments made by Hodge late in his career that he wanted to drop 1kg per year in his twilight and also AR comments regarding Buddy. I think he's an advocate of shedding a few kgs for players longevity. Cripps probably tried it and said nah not for me I wanna go back to going altered beast mode.

Give him a rest for a few weeks...it's not like he's having any impact anyway (most times)..........get him fit and firing or is that too simplistic.....he's not like Judd who at 70-80% was still pretty unstoppable......

Cripps' style of play is almost entirely based on physicality, which is why if he's compromised, he shouldn't be out there. He doesn't have Judd's footy IQ, which is why he could adapt as well as he did throughout his career.

I wanna see Cripps play as a forward pocket who pinch hits in the middle for a few weeks. 2-3.

Take the contested work away from him and try and get him on the end of a few. Get him enjoying his footy. He looks like he hates it right now. Similar to how Weiters looked 2 seasons ago before coming back more confident and in better form.

I wonder how much of an impact not having Kreuzer has impacted on his career. Hopefully TDK can create a good pairing with him.

Think Cripps needs a rest away from the club and football for a week or so..
Looks like he needs to clear his head and the pressure, like Dusty just did (yes realise he was out with concussion)

Come back fresh, if we can freshen up Cripps for second half of the year it's better than what he is producing now for the rest of the year..

Might be on the cards…

I reckon he's put the weight back on too quick after stripping down then having shoulder surgery, his lower back is paying the price. Just a guess.

Posted this in the media section too

Not surprised at all. Why does the media glorify and reward this though? Shouldn't they be condemning Carlton for pushing our best player through a back fracture? Give Cripps the 12 weeks off, let him rest and recover properly. Give Dow on-ball minutes for the rest of the season - failing that, Cripps v2 in Kemp is back in the reserves from next week.. Let him develop, blood him in the one's if he earns the chance. Play Setters. Do anything except play our compromised captain.

Cripps needs to look Ty Zantucks case and understand what his future could look like.

Carlton should not be doing this to our captain its a disgrace.

Yeah, exactly. Not only our captain - an AFLPA, 2x AA and 3x Club BnF winner. A legitimate star. I cannot believe we would do this to any player in 2021, let alone the best player at our club since Judd.

Can we now make it a bannable offense to question whether Crippa has checked out?

If he didn't bleed blue, it would be so very easy to not push himself to play with something as serious as this.

Happy to retract my comment about the game going past him if he's playing with a fractured back, but WHY is he playing with a fractured back?!?
FFS!
We need to stop acting like he's our only bloody midfielder. Dow, Setterfield, Kennedy. Put Stocker in the guts and move Williams to HBF. SPS, Fogarty, Cunners, Gibbons. Even SOS when he gets back. Plenty of players to shoulder the load, a lot of whom are screaming for midfield time.
Rest up Crippa.

Cripps ain’t injured as many of us want to believe or more so hope...

He has checked out sadly folks and halfway to WA already. We need to let him walk while maximizing any compo with any deal we can. We are bigger as a club than any individual and always will be as much as it will hurt to see him go.

If we pay him close to 1million a season like is rumored what he wants it is pure incompetence from the board on current form.
Want another swing at that?

Few things

1) I’m not so sure this is true cause it has come out at a confident time.
2) if it is true he shouldn’t be playing
3) is it him forcing them to play him? Cause if it is that’s a bit of a joke. I get he’s a gutsy player and does anything for the club but when he plays like he did on the weekend it hurts us more than it helps

sad reality is that people may have been right about his body breaking down early

You're like a forward who misses a gimme then immediately starts pointing everywhere to man up because that's more important and helps to obscure your own effort which was of course, the game's gone past our 26 year old Captain.

When it was reported back in round 2, it was so painfully obvious he was so underdone. Can't break tackles, can't burst and slowly gets up from being tackled. The injection effect must of worn off by the 2nd half.

I just want to go to the open training session so I can flame the MCs. We got inside bulls, send Setterfield and Kennedy in there and see what they can do.
