Ball drop or ball trajectory?

I notice a lot of his field kicks when kicking long he really gets under and they go rather high. Could be because of his ball drop being too high?

Yes - ball drop too high so he's not stretching out as he kicks and so has that draw to the left as someone noted. That late shot at goal against GC also look to me like he was tight or sore in the groins.

Could be technique as he grew 20cm when he was 17. Closer ball drop for him is going to end up in a higher kick. His issue isn’t for the 15m-30m kicks, it’s those >40m+ that need the penetration. Could do it, but doesn’t.

Funny post ?
Since Blues have become more of a threat in 2020
Cripps gets picked up week after week

He is fine 👍

He is clearly underperforming compared to previous years, Pendlebury was on him at times today hardly a tagger. De Boer is going to go work him over next game and he kept Fyfe quiet this week.

If he’s not injured and this is his new level........

His point of difference is obviously his size and strength, which allows him the ability to absorb contact and find a teammate by hand.

Without that size and strength, he is just another player. Particularly with his mediocre athleticism, needs to be surrounded by fairly dynamic midfielders.
Honestly, he is surprisingly dynamic, and he has an amazing first few steps.

The problem with his kicking just comes down to two factors: how hard he runs given his size, and how hard he drives his legs to break through tackles. His footy socks must feel like compression stockings towards the end of a match.

Look, this pretty much sums it up.

His difference is his size and strength. He also reads a stoppage really well and is tough as nails.

Hes not mecurical, fast, a great contested mark etc. It's his size and aggression around stoppages.

When he uses that to advantage and gets 30+ touches a game. A bunch of clearnces and the odd goal he is elite.

This year though something is clearly off.

Cutting of size hasn't helped?
Playing injuried?
Pressure of captaincy?
Other teams putting more work in?
Personal issues?

Congested beast cripps last couple of years has been just about the best player in the comp. This year he's been just a good AFL midfielder.
