Not sure if anyone really cares about this, but apparently only 3 were ever produced (according to the MCG Australian Sports Museum), and one is currently for sale on eBay (assuming it's genuine as one photo has a blurb from manufacturer Sekem), opening bid is 10k, or you can buy it outright for 90k! (Apologies for anyone triggered by the images!)

It goes to show how dire our situation was at the time that we were being consumed whole by a club that no longer exists in any meaningful form.

But we do...

Adam Cooney reveals how he exited Western Bulldogs

Adam Cooney’s time was up at the Bulldogs by the end of 2014, and they didn’t mince words when showing him the door.

Adam Cooney said the Bulldogs were a rabble the end of his final year at the club.

Adam Cooney has revealed why he had to leave the Western Bulldogs and said he almost signed for North Melbourne before he was charmed by James Hird.
The Brownlow Medal winner spent a decade at Whitten Oval before being told at the end of 2014 by then coach Brendan McCartney he wasn’t going to get a game.
“I was in a meeting with North Melbourne, I was mid meeting with (coach) Brad Scott talking about where I fit in the team,’’ he said.
“I was signed, sealed and delivered, going to North, a three year deal and they were in the premiership window. And then I left there and (Essendon recruiting boss) Adrian Dodoro rang me straight away.
“He said how’d your meeting with North go, I went yeah it went pretty well and he said before you sign come have a meeting with me and Hirdy.
“As soon as I looked into Hirdy’s golden locks and his blue eyes I was like sold. He went over everything, he said look this is what the situation is, we’re 95 per cent sure that we’re going to be found not guilty, there’s no evidence against us whatsoever.”

Cooney said McCartney wasn’t the right fit at the Bulldogs.
“You talk about good coaches knowing individual players, that’s why he didn’t last,’’ he said.
“He was a bit robotic, everyone has to do this, he was obsessed. Then it drove the players away from wanting to play and we were just a rabble towards the back end of 2014.

“I had my exit meeting … they sat me down and said you’ll either be playing VFL next year or we’ll probably just pay you out.
“I walked out and rang my manager and said I think I need a trade.”
Cooney said he relayed his concerns to club president Peter Gordon but never heard from the club again.
“Brownlow night, probably not the best night to do it, and I sat down with Peter Gordon who was the president of the club and I was sitting with all the boys on the table and I said I’m going to go talk to him right now.
“I just said everything, talked about all the young players, the environment just isn’t right, he’s just not the right guy for the group. And he was really thankful, he said thank you for talking to us about this. We had some concerns, let me give you a call in the next couple of days and we’ll have a meeting and sort it out. And I didn’t hear back from the club.
Never heard from any of them again.”
That is not the way to handle the exit of a club star.

How's the gaul on Hird and Dodo selling him fools gold

Good insight into some of McCartney's failings. Also Gordon's.

What is the relationship between Cooney and Club now?

Cooney still has a soft spot or the happenings of 2014 have caused damage that may not repair any relationship.

Rarely hear him say a positive thing about the club so can only imagine the relationship was never repaired

Sad if that’s the case as he is a Number 1 draft pick, Brownlow medallist and was a darn good player very good player.

As of 2021 I believe it's been fixed, few seniors at the club reached out to him and mended shit behind the scenes, especially because Jaxon is in our academey and we fully expect to draft him as a F/S. Cooney has actually come out and said alot of positive stuff about the Dogs in the last two years, never use to be like that.

This is going to be a real bottom of the table blockbuster. How on earth have we won two games without winning the free kick count? I thought we could only win when be gifted frees.

Simple. The losing teams were cheated out of other FKs they deserved and the ones we got were all in front of goal. Same old story.

There's a reason why we're sending Kylie Watson-Wheeler off to AFL House.

Nothing will beat the build up to the 2021 prelim where all the Port fans kept banging on about how we will get so many free kicks. Well Port won the free kick count 22-16 yet lost by 10 goals.

I put on the first half of the PF over the long weekend and scanned through their preview and game day threads while I was watching. Very entertaining, highly recommend.

Wines is currently a much, much worse player now. English is better, arguably Libba too.

If we're serious we win this comfortably, problem being we dominated Richmond for 80% of last week's game and only won by a kick.

And what damage did the Tiggers do in the other 20%.

I would have thought we would have addressed the issue of the opposition kicking multiple goals without a response.

Huge concern we dodged a bullet last week.

Strange. I always thought wines got better with age ... or perhaps he is corked?

Clay Smith has been getting a few mentions in the Bulldogs socials lately ...
