SEN bought 500 tickets to the Swans v Richmond game to give away and were struggling. Just a AFL manufactured event.
Being SEN. I presume that if they did buy them then they brought them at 5 cents on the dollar.

Its more likely they were handed them by the AFL who were handed them by the State Government.

Governments will always underwrite and thus sports organisations will always happily arrange and then benefit from this stupid largess. I presume that the entire event is shrouded in the usual commercial in confidence smoke that the same always seems to attract. So we will probably never know the full extent of the cost of this pointless and soulless extravaganza. No doubt all the parties with their snouts in the trough will proclaim the cost to be irrelevant and that the exposure generated will pay for the event many times over. Governments of all stripes and philosophies have been rolling out this bread and circuses trick for thousands of years.

No amount of Brian Taylor gushing about the packed crowd on the hill could disguise the fact that the same emptied of theatre goers pretty quickly. As soon as the rain started and the game was still in the balance, they ****ed off because they didn't care about the result.

Imagine losing a bnf because you couldn't play a practice match! What a strange decision.

Imagine a club that actually uses practice games as part of its measure for its club champion award.

Somebody, anybody tell me this isn't true.

I didn’t know about that, whoever made that decision that put a BNF in Dunks pocket over Libba should be publicly hung outside WO

Stupidity has no boundries

Anyone who watched Dogs games last year could see Libba was better than Dunkley, bias aside. Pretty rough for Libba to miss out

Probably why Dunkley chuckled when he received it - I think he thought it was a token last effort to retain him as well.

And it could well happen again. Earlier this year in the practice game against North Ed Richards played an excellent first quarter. He hurt his knee and was taken off for the rest of the match. In the words of the club “ he would have played on if it was a real game. The injury was slight and we only took him off as a precaution “.
If Ed Richards misses out on the B&F by a couple of votes it will highlight the foolishness of counting practice games. Either your B&F means something or it doesn’t.

Goe very close to one of the most if not the most ridiculous things I have ever come across.

And to think the people that make these decisions are in charge of the club.

Scary stuff!

I think Dunkley was a deserved winner. Him and Libba both had excellent seasons and were two of the few that you could guarantee giving their heart on a week to week basis.
Not disagreeing on deserving it, but having a practice match votes for Dunkley when Liber didn't even play determine the actual winner is farcical.

100%. Was just disagreeing with the suggestion that Dunkley received it as a token gesture to convince him to stay

Sadly, it is 100% true. The utter stupidity of it is almost funny. Almost.
Sometimes with our club its best to...

Our club makes some laughably derrrrish decisions at times.

Awarding votes for pre-season matches, is definitely one of them.

What a legend Libba is. And I don’t use that term lightly. God he deserves an AA before he’s done.

The best thing is, if he's not he couldn't give a f☆☆☆

we acknowledge. That's all that matters. Who gives a shite what anyone else thinks.

FWIW Libba won the Ching last year. Comfortably. Dunkley was a fair way back in third. But then I guess we weren't voting on practice games.

These were the votes of the top 10:

We do get a few wrong as well to be fair. Bont’s 2021 season is up there for the best in Dogs history and he couldn’t walk away with the Ching.

Libba has definitely been robbed a Charlie Sutton Medal but I think Dunkley had a really excellent season too and must have played one hell of a practice match.

Yes I agree. I wasn't saying the Ching is the benchmark for all other awards, just that we on BF gave it to Libba by a pretty handsome margin.

Corbyn Middlemass just on ABC radio regarding gather round: "no one has lost or gained a home or away game, just an extra round".

Port and Crows just got an extra home game each you f*wit!!!!

And Blues and Dogs have to play an extra away INTERSTATE game.

Who employs these f*ing idiots??
They should make it that whoever plays the local team in gather round gets the gate. At least there would be some benefit for the club
