The Western Bulldogs are pleased to announce a renewal and an elevated partnership with People First Bank, which will become the official AFL Coaches Partner for the next four years.

The new deal will see the People First Bank logo featured on apparel worn by the AFL coaching panel, led by senior coach Luke Beveridge, and also on branding in the coaches’ box, signage on the interchange bench, and on the club’s media backdrop.

While the name People First Bank is new, the partnership with the Western Bulldogs is not.

People First Bank was created by the merger of People’s Choice and Heritage Bank last year, with the new name for the organisation announced in November last year.
Under the People's Choice banner, the organisation has been a Platinum Partner of the Club since 2017, meaning they will eclipse the 10-year milestone before this new arrangement is complete.

“We are delighted to extend and elevate our relationship with People First Bank, who have been a wonderful partner of our club for many years,” said Ameet Bains, CEO of the Western Bulldogs.

“As their business enters an exciting new era, we are proud to play our part in bringing the new People First brand to life across the Club and through our great partnership.”

People First Bank CEO Peter Lock said “We’re thrilled to continue our association with the Western Bulldogs and for it to be one of the first places that People First Bank will be showcased.

“The Bulldogs share our commitment to supporting local communities, so it’s a great fit.

“At People First Bank our goal is to provide a strong, truly national customer-owned alternative to the big banks. The exposure that our partnership with the Bulldogs provides will help us achieve greater brand recognition right across the country.”

Commercially we really seem to be kicking ass at the moment. It’s a shame we will go a long way backward regardless of our off field competency with the 6 million dollar sexual abuse pay out. Big hit, but hopefully all of these strengthened commercial partnerships go a way to mitigating that in the coming years.

I think the appeal against the amount of compensation is being heard about now isn’t it?

From the Guardian’s Jonathan Horn.

Mind you, he prefaces the article (on who will finish 18th to 9th) by saying the Bulldogs could finish anywhere from premiers to wooden spooners.

No sh-t, Jonathan. 🙄

10th – Western Bulldogs

I think we miss the point with the Bulldogs. We expect too much of them. Maybe they expect too much of themselves. They’re a riddle, certainly, a tease, no doubt. But ultimately, in quarters, in games, in months, and in seasons, they loom and drop away. Just when you’ve given up on them, they drag you back in. When they’re really humming, when Bont and Libba have full control, they can tease you into thinking they’re the best team in the competition. But too often, they’re exposed by their bottom six, and stand revealed against the very best.

Anything written about us that says we can’t be trusted and have to prove it is right. However if you read someone saying it’s time for Naughton go back because Jamarra and Sam Darcy can hold down the F50 you can stop reading that article immediately.

Agree. I thought it was pretty shallow and unresearched but I posted it for general interest.

Jamarra's gotten a lot of weird praise this off-season with the expectation that he's better than he actually is. It's not as if he was top 20 or top 25 in the league for goals kicked, but the media is acting like he is. I hope this doesn't mean that there's unfair criticism of him if he doesn't necessarily play well to start the season, it's because non-Dogs media have already started not even assessing his 2023 season correctly.

Feels like we go better when there is less expectation.

With our F1 gone, Bevo's job on the line and big contracts looming, the stakes are very high for this season.

I back the backs, our most balanced list in a while.

Breaking news: if the best player in the league gets injured his team won’t be as good.

The Wire Reaction GIF

American sports with their endless timeouts and intrusive coaches arent anything we want to emulate. I like that our game places a premium on onfield leadership and game awareness of the players - its not just a bunch of dumb athletes being spoonfed direction every other play. Smart and experienced players can have an impact greater than their physical contribution.

I think what Bevo was saying is in those sports it is much easier for the coach to impact the game from the sidelines, headsets etc... and that it was knee jerk reaction to restrict runners just because of a few clubs.

I know but I like the sound of the AFLs vague 'less coach intrusion' stuff that bevo was poking shit at.

Most pundits have us anywhere between 7-13 which feels about right this season.

Yeah. I’d be pretty surprised if we were bottom four or top four, but feels like anything else is in play.

Tbf I feel like that about most teams outside of Brisbane/Pies (top) and North/WC/Hawks (bottom).

Agreed, GWS and Carlton aren't sneaking up on anybody this year, Swans have to integrate a lot of new talent plus deal with early injuries, the Saints surely can't get better than they were last year, Port and the Crows both have stinky backlines.
