What's truly amazing is how anybody on that show could get shitty at one of their fellow panellist mocking them.

This is especially so when the entire format is one where thats all that they do with occasional diversions into football talk.

How Tony Jones the Temu Eddy Maguire, has managed to have a career in the media is one of life's great mysteries. One that is only surpassed by our lack of understanding of events prior to The Big Bang that made that insufferable black hole of charisma possible.
Fragile ego, Damo? Never.

"appears to be"

It's one hell of an optical illusion. Don't trust it.

That's exactly why I qualified my post with "appears to be". Compared to Barnett and Jones, it's a very low bar for comparison. 😉😄

I don't watch ch9's footy shows or usually their evening news, but have had to recently endure Jones on some of the Olympic's coverage we tuned into. I think your assessment of his capabilities is over-generous, tbh. 😆

Any mention as to whether Darc will stay in the media or just give it away?

Doesn't need the money...nor the stress 😎

The article says he’s walking away from the media, will focus on the family business.

The football media landscape is changing dramatically with an AFL great to walk out the door completely, following the defections of Kane Cornes and Caroline Wilson.

Channel 7 and Triple M commentator Luke Darcy is walking away from the media.

The former Western Bulldogs captain is set to pull up stumps following the Grand Final to focus on his family’s flourishing business empire.
Darcy has been one of the most versatile and respected media figures over the past 15 years, holding a number of different gigs including hosting the Hot Breakfast on Triple M with Eddie McGuire for 11 years.
The 49-year-old has been one of Seven’s stars since 2011 whether in the commentary box or hosting roles on Talking Footy and the 2020 Olympics. He has also worked on some of the network’s lifestyle offerings, co-hosting on the House of Wellness.
Darcy’s shock exit comes as a huge shake-up of the football media landscape with a number of big names switching networks.

Seven needs to clear some space in the coffers after new sport boss Chris Jones’ audacious poaching raid on rival Channel 9, signing Footy Classified panellists Kane Cornes and Caroline Wilson.
Ironically, Darcy made headlines last year when he clashed on-air with Cornes, calling the SEN shock jock out for his style saying he had no friends in the industry.

And last week Darcy let on Triple M that veteran sports anchor Tim Watson was set to vacate his position at the end of the year.

Darcy, who played 226 games with the Dogs between 1994-2007, is also a board member at the Western Bulldogs and is keen to spend more time watching his son Sam who is a rising star of the competition.
He also has plenty of business ventures to fall back on.

Darcy’s Bali wellness spa, Sukhavati Ayurvedic Retreat and Spa, situated in a rural village near hotspot Canggu, is popular among AFL types with Nathan Buckley and his partner, Brodie Ryan, recently returning from a self-discovering detox.

The Darcy family has long been involved in the Melbourne pub scene and owned a number of city venues including Melbourne Public on South Wharf.

Darcy is also the co-founder of the Aleda Collective, a consultancy business working with business leaders, coaches and educators. He also has a podcast called ‘Empowering Leaders’.

The former ruckman has previously been mooted for politics and reportedly introduced leader of the Opposition Peter Dutton to meditation.

He's got to focus on the business empire so he can pay Sam more pocket money outside the cap

And the others coming through 😁

We say this facetiously but I think there is something to it. Sam will be a superstar for the next 10+ years. I've lost the thread on how many other of his sons are coming through the program, at least 1? Even if he is half as good as Sam that will still make him a solid player. Would be hard to work in the media and discuss your son/sons games or have others discuss them in your presence and keep a straight face. Especially when you make enough money from your businesses which you might find more satisfying.

From Code Footy, among other media sources:

''The Western Bulldogs and AFL have been left blindsided by an official complaint urging them to abandon the famous Bulldogs name as it promotes ‘suffering and deformities’.''

PETA taking on the big issues. They want us to be called the Mutts because they’re healthier and live longer than Bulldogs.
Kylie is considering it and has proposed the names the Goofys or the Plutos.
Some discussions as to whether Goofy is actually a dog are ongoing.

Even among animal activists and even among extremists animal activists, PETA are known for their desire to create headlines than really do anything that's meaningful or productive, regardless if you agree with their goal.

It's hot air.

They'd need my permission for that name change...
