You are correct in that a great deal of people aren't fussy and will watch things in streaming quality and not care. But like you when you see what things should be like you can tell there is a difference :).

I was sceptical once - was happy with just dvd versions of movies (still infinitely watchable on 55"+ TV screens. But then I saved a bluray of one of my favourite movies and saw how things can look on bluray. At that point I only had a few bluray titles (purchased wayyyy back during the ps3 era). Then I just went nuts and expanded my bluray collection. And then I discovered 4K and my mind was blown again :p

Dumb question

Does a 4K BluRay play on any BluRay player?

Sadly no

is the Crème de la crème of 4k players

the budget version of the above

Alternately if you get yourself a ps5 or xbox series x you're also good to go.

Secret Level on Amazon.

It's an anthology series based on computer games / board game IP's. Each episode is quite short and is self-contained.

The Warhammer 40k episode (episode #5 "They Shall Know No Fear") is absolutely GOATed for any Warhammer fans.

Here's an awesome scene.

Jet Lag Season 3 is a brilliant. I quite enjoyed S1 & S2, but the concept of the massive game of tag across Europe is boss level reality TV. I'm not surprised that each ep for S3 rates in the 9's on IMDB.
Love love love jetlag

5 episodes into Landman. It’s got Sheridans formula all over it but for some reason he can hook you in quickly.

I guess I’m enjoying it but I’d rather be watching new episodes of The Agency.

Don’t speak is probably next.

Im enjoying Landman, sure its no where near Yellowstone was at its peak, but its a decent show to view.

6th episode was actually the highest rated episode in S1 to date.

7th episode drops around 4pm today.

Definitely enjoying Landman. The interactions between the main character, ex-wife and daughter is a bit distracting from the main plot line. But I do enjoy Nates interactions with the daughter as a bit of side humour.

Caught up with S2 of Serpent Queen, which despite lacking the coming-of-age survival of S1 was just as excellent in its own way. All Morton this time and she is so great in the part of Catherine. Enjoyed Bill Milner’s Charles IX. Older Edith and Henri of Navarre were some fun additions, and Minnie Driver’s ‘Virgin Queen’ was hilarious. A tad rushed maybe, you could easily imagine stretching this material out to double the seasons, but it is a very well done speculative spin on the history. Truly wicked ending. Liked how the power struggle comes back to several female characters (Catherine, Elizabeth, Edith, Antoinette, etc.) and you don’t really even think about it at the time, it just is, and very hardcore at that.

apparently Antoinette would’ve turned 530 this Xmas Day (b.1494)

Return to Eden 1983

Has an unusual level of universal appeal (for a largely Australian production), in that you could imagine anyone anywhere of any age potentially getting into it back then. It does the ridiculous soap thing very well, built upon myth and one of those bittersweet extreme makeover return/revenge disguised storylines. Rebecca Gilling and James Reyne are both good in the roles, appreciated the lavish use of locations. Not the greatest thing ever, but it does stand up as a good iconic example of type, I appreciate it for what it is. A lot of the miniseries we made in the 80s were excellent and better than this, but I liked that this went for the biggest and broadest audience accessibility possible.

One Hundred Years of Solitude (Netflix). - very good adaptation of the famous book. They built the town specifically and excellent set with pretty good performances by the main actors. Better than expected
