Acting like a competent, professional football club would be a good start 😝 Geelong weren't always like they are now - 20 years ago they had 6 premierships to their name and the most recent one was in the 1960s.

Brian Cook became their CEO in 1999 after two flags at West Coast, oversaw 3 flags at Geelong (and the build for today's flag). As of 12 months ago he's now working for Carlton.
Completely agree with that.

I kinda look forward to the next CEO as much if not more than the coach for that reason.

Brott Scott?

All I’m saying is you could have swapped them at the beginning and no one would have noticed. But yeah thanks for another ITK gem.
Your welcome.

Is it at all possible that Hird could be an assistant under Scott?

If it was done with complete transparency would be a win/win IMO.

Zero chance I would have thought.
If I was Brad Scott or another prospective coach about to take the job i would develope anxiety at just the thought knowing as soon as my season goes pear shaped I’ll be exiled out and in comes hero assistant to take over.

It’s senior coach or nothing for james. And I believe it will be nothing lol go be an assistant at another job, find his feet again.

As much as I actually think Hird could be a great assistant (especially in a developmental role) I just don't think he could/should for us. The never ending speculation of when he'll take over the top role/knife in the back stuff would be such a distraction.

Parachutes. Everyone loves them, even if they haven't gone through a rigorous process of checks and double-checks. Having one will just make everyone feel good about it all.
He is the only experienced option left so to save face we have lassoed him into the process so Bahram can stand up and say we got our experienced coach :p

They got the off field side sorted with Cook and Costa but they've been very competitive on the field since the late 80s. In that time I think their worst period was missing finals 3 years in a row (2001-2003).

I'm glad he has been asked to apply and I'm hoping it's just Caro being hyperbolic. If he gets it, great. I just want the club to have some integrity. We surely have to have some kind of values system.

Fair, they did have a couple of good years in the early 90s, although that's in the midst of an otherwise long period of not much.

They've really come into their own since professional list management within the bounds of the draft and salary cap became relevant though.

Not just early 90s. Grand Finals in '94 and '95 and 2nd on the ladder in '97 at the end of the H&A.
